Duties' G4 y" A) u' M  p. _

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region# H- M8 G2 h3 A/ o3 w3 \
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
. J8 q3 b& b, q% I5 ^7 R    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
8 v" ~8 u3 Z2 H+ v. d    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
8 S8 V0 O1 ~! D8 z8 l; k    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director) t2 g$ `" ]6 D. Z6 m* Y
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses9 L4 G/ y1 q' L$ ?% f2 g8 C
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth6 n! P4 v! a$ I  b2 m- v/ n
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
% P3 M1 I$ X/ A3 E2 Y$ f2 ?: f    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
4 U, Z! Y4 v2 T- F" D7 |9 B    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
) u; {; }6 c9 H$ ~# v- }7 Z8 [: M& o    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities# C! E4 u0 V( P% J, z4 z; ]4 n3 S
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools8 k7 T" D, W# E. \1 y& c

Qualifications
* w2 t3 a' s& p, h; n/ N
- a$ G* n4 o- v    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
/ a; y$ h, w6 n2 v) ~' k! u2 D    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth9 _, ^) q# c! x6 w$ F3 }" t
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
; m# M1 H6 U  M5 O# d7 y    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs$ E- W" m5 _7 c' I! A
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
8 j5 j/ l( j1 }; o    * Fundraising skills an asset7 t, I* N6 B: }8 H' b; _2 ^
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills1 g: ?3 I0 o  _& h
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills9 k( P/ Q' Z1 `( w1 C8 z
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
5 f& n: V4 U5 q# t    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills5 M2 r; D/ `! z" T( y( k
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset# t: J8 {5 T* @2 Z
