Duties

, j2 B: Q/ K. ?1 J) _ * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region/ `5 N& ~$ g1 E E+ E
* Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group+ S5 [# a' j) j. e. N: t$ m- m a# c
* Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators$ n* Z+ ], z* v ^1 a" b# ^$ X: j4 T
* Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
5 q t7 P3 [3 S3 Z * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
5 i0 Y+ y! K D$ C3 X3 M * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses! J" T- J; ~+ i
* Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth0 m1 x9 a. {/ j
* Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program8 v& M" c, a1 W
* Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment& Q" A$ b6 H* C2 B5 G
* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports/ _6 e) d! z$ ?, X) n
* Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
. k4 ~/ L% L7 R+ ] * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
. E- i: K' i! d+ y+ i# Z * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities C1 c: ] l" J, n5 h
* Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

* Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
0 q0 s0 c. i) C/ m2 w$ U * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth; k4 i& U2 p$ u7 B# W& z. ?
* Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
" Y. {6 x% u } * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs4 e) N! z; F* Q" w# U2 F+ l
* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community+ f# e7 w& \+ w& m+ M' n
* Fundraising skills an asset

* Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
