Duties- d0 w6 W. y; }% D7 y

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region+ U0 B  p* f6 u) J4 o7 ^
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group  d/ p) B0 q/ Z1 l, j6 N0 K
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
/ d0 U2 ~* G  N# W$ |9 q    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations! I/ m9 A: b9 R9 _: S: [9 g9 h
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
; C8 V% I' d( S0 k- ]% K9 V# n    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
% X$ [' m2 b  O    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth9 d6 p4 z. i" \1 O
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program8 f/ e8 K( `5 y
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
, @1 S5 a1 v; Z/ f  K2 G    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
# }. j7 t/ H# R- I/ K4 p$ c8 F4 P1 [    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

+ P/ P) ~) v$ N' w" k    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
! H. `" R. J! l    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications. R0 n9 C2 J' b9 A) m
7 v" {+ \7 R! W$ a
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline3 D3 X9 P/ H% \- k
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
( B. `3 v. s, h    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
" @. {, H( H4 n4 g4 r7 P% l    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
% g' Y: x) ~1 m; D  K  z    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills0 @$ \; S. t4 G# H- T" Z1 x
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills  P, W  d. C9 `/ x
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
; M; U4 @* y0 |* b4 S    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
