Even heated Saskatoon posted a slower annual increase of 13.1 per cent, "further confirmation of a trend of deceleration in this city. Many builders reported increased prices as a result of higher material and labour costs," the agency said.

" b" K2 k5 }4 R4 pThe fastest pace was in Regina, which saw a year-over-year price increase of 29.6 per cent, down from its record rise of 34 per cent in April.

n! W: f9 {8 [ b6 oAs the market continued to cool in Western Canada, prices for new homes rose nationally at a slower pace in July for the sixth consecutive month.$ `. G2 s# g9 H7 T% \1 F$ N
4 V" Z5 X0 T7 a3 m, s9 B' T- PPrices were up 2.7 per cent in July from a year earlier, down from June's annual pace of 3.5 per cent. On a monthly basis, prices edged up 0.1 per cent between June and July.

"The growth rate of the index has been on a downward trend since September 2006," the agency said.
