Payment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:

1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.( F) s$ f! Y4 ~& f
2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.4 e4 X2 w! V9 k. k% S4 i9 R
3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
& _+ F: T- o; |, G6 D. ^/ ?9 S5 R6 R 4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.
