A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care." F1 Z8 k( K" P* ]8 k$ G
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
; w0 ]- Z4 V! Oknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.' [1 V; `) k5 o" X, V( b# ^
The program includes the following elements:
* Q7 b Q5 Z3 T• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)' t! w- X+ ?9 a! ` N' _% x
• Standard Child Care First Aid$ e% Z# S! P1 ]4 |+ w, v
• WHMIS
+ B3 V$ ?" v" Z. C3 Z% w• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care* `( \/ @" e, }4 _" O4 K0 }! X
• Components to improve communication skills' u; _( }7 N/ [
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search, s& [8 I% i8 ?( K, m3 [2 {) {
• Practicum Placements
& E7 e" w* b u& w6 V0 D& b( OEligibility Criteria/ f+ E) _! l5 E% h$ q
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
3 s4 r# D, H7 B6 Kof Canada$ ~3 d2 |7 T" B* W4 O3 r# a% f2 S
• have a Social Insurance Number8 a" s1 ]( v+ _# F6 A
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
& ?4 [, q' A1 F6 V0 X• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
% [2 T+ t3 v/ s4 U• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet; y- x" U4 ]7 R. |0 K0 V

• be unemployed or underemployed.- T* @+ U" Z' I! |' |
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course0 {. Y5 s7 ?% U$ ^0 l- g
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
