Duties6 M, W u$ G6 j
0 ?' B' b. d _6 t * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
6 i- y$ i) H5 f2 T) E& ~* e * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
$ ^. N$ r3 V0 ]/ g/ n$ {! O* d5 Y * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
3 r* n3 y, `' ] * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students 7 F5 p$ }' [& V
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies5 w5 _, K6 C2 |6 c( {+ x$ w
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
' D! ^0 o' X2 \$ Q) o * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
