Duties

H' `6 m6 S* `. a * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications& \6 \4 j# {8 O/ u; v% V
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
/ y. C$ y% B6 q * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance$ d+ ^5 h9 m/ |+ L
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students

N% E) w3 O# n% w * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
) f- Q) V; Q0 N# d/ l5 D! q, `# G * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs, p3 F" s, U9 ?0 ~3 [/ t& b0 L
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment1 z) N! `. y, \: w7 X

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
