Duties
& h4 z/ f" g: ?) |% y" t9 p" E+ {+ k' A# u& k
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
1 U3 A8 I( W2 R" R* f+ a4 c * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis8 N+ E I A& H8 R8 G* m
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
! t# l& k: T! n' C( P( Y * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students 5 A5 Z8 B& J) n- `
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
& |. ~0 V( y E5 d * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs

Qualifications

4 S# C$ k. _6 h * Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
