* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications9 j" @" @ m. R @; _; K. t0 N7 N8 o
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis" C' A: e" n5 Q* T8 g
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
1 g, t4 X1 P- ~" ~! W * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students

O e- y * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies% @3 e) U, T F) ?! D" O0 Y7 j8 D- |
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs* W4 r) o0 t6 C* L0 h
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

Qualifications

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
! W# Z7 D- W6 Q, v! x- F6 z * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
