; g2 I$ o& G1 P& f1 NBig Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

8 L# |3 [4 D( H4 ^, @Activity Planning and Daily Activity
, s: h" O! f, h$ T; E• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
7 B+ c, ?4 Y& T" q8 ]( g• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. / L- ^+ X! T g* v' E& I: f
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ; ~# s8 E7 k2 q$ q+ S2 m$ J) B
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.+ [0 ], D0 r( G! W, w, N+ b
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.4 t, R! a' ]7 d" @' M7 l
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.) u: G3 k- K% F4 V' s3 N1 @

The successful candidate will have:+ u7 x; Q& L# V; E" X3 ^- d
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting* n) Y$ q1 |9 P& M% L3 l
• Experience with children! c: r' b+ n# e
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 9 {* O. [. S+ J m2 L2 L
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
% w9 ?8 l7 g$ s• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
! z( M; [! y3 ^% k d5 r• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
/ u* ~2 `1 t' S7 Q! S2 `/ P• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 7 i% x# l1 K: L- d( Z0 P' z
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check $ O" ?1 S' b$ v
