Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. 0 H, X3 m0 x r" s8 y

* T3 D I1 E2 W(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)$ |$ i3 @: U4 j' R4 X& x
% `% W! u7 v1 @, F6 y4 ~$ EKey Responsibilities Include, G$ W% o" I( D: Y3 d/ U
Activity Planning and Daily Activity) q D7 V( `! J2 q, W6 v$ L/ J: R7 t6 E
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
y& U9 c3 r7 V• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 0 G$ p0 @7 R6 T9 S
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, + m" M7 e7 U$ U. N! s' V
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
* g( ?( j! C! D% N3 Q" F• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
, Q% X ^( ^4 s) x. K6 _ o' G• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

7 F& [0 C3 F, _" ~( u2 o1 ?• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting" N& T& _6 P: V3 O; M
• Experience with children4 L4 [) w, \, i5 H( Y7 k
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth * `0 C- d; K: H2 w: o
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.9 e+ F0 f! e- \2 [: j
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.; c9 `" x5 K' R" q& y
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources f! Y- T* _# y
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
, ^8 a6 G- N! M+ [% j• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check / Y6 |! `* e. M( N/ m; v
