Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)$ w( t, f0 c9 O

Key Responsibilities Include
4 {: A+ S" b( O3 fActivity Planning and Daily Activity7 Q2 b; w, k- Z1 d
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
) j! K' q! }! F0 y* S7 r• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
2 |$ B7 b' v% X7 o' r3 d7 T1 D• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 5 v! H8 c/ u9 n7 F
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
3 L$ U! `# d+ V- H I• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
% _5 t5 m; v& B) {' c* C3 ~• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.% g3 k4 F) S/ d' g: Y

The successful candidate will have:
9 r7 f2 [9 ~+ g• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting k M/ X _" e# r, w
• Experience with children
I% s( |$ r+ E" N• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth + @; e; \" N( C
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.1 U, X. O& E* b" @
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.

) Y1 q8 K* v$ s I2 O7 e• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
