Duties/ F* w5 ?& r! P, D) S1 c
% F* p$ J6 ~: R * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
7 a/ _# o: h) j4 @6 o/ a) L * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr
8 ]0 l% Y1 O0 g; x1 f; z+ w( a * Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps1 p; A1 e6 G+ I& E. E- [
* Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations
2 l, X2 g6 s: `2 p P1 t) u! p * Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations

; `" H; n9 r% MQualifications; m9 z- x- O' R; f. k* t1 T
* i5 n: G8 l- X& `3 Z$ | * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred9 E, I5 |8 {/ o, ]
* Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
' A% \- j7 n- H1 F; ^5 q * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers
) X# ~$ D3 f# w5 S" ] * WHMIS training
3 n& I5 S" e" y: W& v! v t * Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
