2 h$ P% Q* z+ H! HA 20-year-old woman has been charged after a tenant found the dead body of a baby girl under a bed in a north-end Edmonton home last week.

( ^. p2 u: \, v* M$ ]Naomi Russell-Simpson is charged with committing an indignity to a body, neglect to obtain assistance in child birth and concealing the body of a child.& V* G1 S. n7 n3 @

The 20-year-old college student was granted bail Tuesday.

( K" X* m1 Q& t) QPolice have released few details on the autopsy results, but said Tuesday the girl was born alive. The girl's death is still being labelled as suspicious and not a homicide.

/ w) j8 z8 E, A" u0 p. m' ^( E1 P& bThe infant was found on March 19 when a man sharing a home at 69 Street and 130 Avenue, who would only identify himself as Wayne, entered the basement suite to do some laundry.- D/ ], J& u+ g4 S* q8 }7 G

Wayne said his dog began barking and eventually led him to the body. He and his girlfriend called police after they saw a small hand in the bag.+ t* L) {+ D- t; ]

Police said the girl's body was wrapped in towels and placed in a plastic bag.0 W. O( O6 F/ o* G1 J$ X8 _* b

The charges neglecting to obtain assistance in childbirth and committing an indignity to a dead body both carry a maximum penalty of five years.
