This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations. j/ X4 x& b; d8 ]' mEligibility Criteria + o$ n' \9 O* i4 A; k9 [1 fAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:7 L/ J M+ g# U- l% g
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less 7 Q3 F0 F) x8 }, L/ k2 ?•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education 3 l( P" O8 J: [' I' ?4 K•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English 9 j( p7 A# h( r! B& |/ s•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada $ w( n# w3 R" o. C& }+ ~
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field- d; v6 V* G; M
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less3 m1 C! F1 v5 }' V+ q4 i, k
•Be eligible to work in Canada 7 ?/ n P8 b& P y* Q* `•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop3 l" x9 j3 Z- L8 i
•Lack access to professional networks 4 |' y! r0 D$ r& l) k•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning " |0 ?2 ^8 {( BTime Commitment9 |! |7 b0 t; C+ X. p4 @; q
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.& K" l4 c+ B/ d2 A2 X
