Position: Outreach Youth Worker / Program: Community Development / Terms: Full time 37.5. hrs week. This is a One year contract October 12, 2009 to October 15, 2010 / Reports to: Manager, CD / Probation Period: 3 months / Supervises: Practicum Students & Volunteers / Closing Date: 4:00 p.m. 10.07.09.

' Q$ r0 @ C- }( l7 OEMCN works with a multi-cultural community to provide support to youth (ages 9 – 27) through mentorship, recreation and education.
% s) n H' y, A L5 N/ ]1 s" o* g' c2 d: x7 @; B1 F
Responsibilities: build relationships with existing immigrant/refugee youth and their community; provide workshops or work with other agencies to provide workshops on racism, bullying, conflict resolution, leadership, public speaking and others advocate for immigrant youth in the community; creatively plan, organize and evaluate small group activities; support Settlement Practitioners in Schools in their work with families and schools through mentoring, educational sessions and other capacity building activities; learn about EMCN and other programs, services and resources for youth and families for referral.

3 d# T3 w, {1 w6 k* JDesired Skills, education/experience: strong commitment to providing quality services working in an intercultural environment; ability to document and complete reports in an accurate manner; facilitation skills required; development and delivery of workshops; ability to prioritize duties ,ability to perform a variety of diverse tasks; proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in languages other than English/French; experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet Usage; extensive evening and weekend work required.* X. Education/Technical Skills: Post-secondary education, diploma or degree, preferably in Youth Development, Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, however work experience will be considered. A clean driving abstract and car is needed for this position.) o) S: r/ v, P- G
