5 s7 e3 W# w% S: B" i, M The Field Operator is responsible for monitoring production in field locations surrounding the Balzac Gas Plant facility (10 minutes north of the Calgary city limits; 30 km from the downtown core). This position works a 35 day shift rotation, which includes 12 hour days/nights and 9 hour training days. This role is bound by the terms of the Collective Agreement (Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Local 773).
Job Duties/Responsibilities  
, l: |- S' g2 e. x. s8 r -  Display competency with operations procedures checklists and critical procedures;
* S: x$ T) o3 O; |  K-  Provide day to day control of producing wells, pipelines and associated production equipment;
-  Make and carry out recommendations to maximize production, minimize operating costs and eliminate downtime;
$ F5 V+ p8 q; _" b0 ^- A$ V) b( o: O6 W-  Ensure all field related activities are completed safely, on schedule and in an environmentally safe and cost effective manner;
5 d. x% y! ^0 v8 h$ j* J-  Comply with all EH&S, Corporate and Regulatory rules and procedures. Report any unacceptable conditions and incidents;
; E" u9 S* c: |, g-  Work in a team-oriented atmosphere and contribute to the ongoing success of the Balzac Complex;
, X* G: K  H0 E  X-  Know and understand the Nexen Canadian Oil & Gas "Our Culture" statement;

5 O$ g4 x5 T$ l, R+ n Education/Experience  
' R# k* G1 p: n% \4 G' d2 p" ` - Grade 12 diploma or equivalent in training and experience;
5 e! V) [) H, M, E# |2 q-  Minimum of 3 years' related experience operating sour gas wells, pipelines and compressors;
-  Current H2S Alive certification or equivalent;
  n4 U( V1 T# Q/ t9 o2 G1 O' a-  Dependable, organized and self motivated;
4 _( K4 ^0 N4 H/ S. h/ _2 x-  Strong initiative and problem solving skills;
$ y/ X* f4 M1 O-  A willingness and ability to work in outdoor conditions.
