community, Dr Carl Amrhein, Provost and Vice-President Academic has

# I! [5 G5 t* J6 i(i.e., a doctor's note) is not required for student absences due to
4 J$ B0 z& @2 a& F3 ?5 d. r; bInfluenza Like Illness (ILI).

It is important that students regularly consult the University's H1N1. v* x# l: _" M

available, including signs and symptoms of influenza and what you should7 W" x1 Z6 d; a8 [8 a

In this and any flu season, it is important to take responsibility for
% k5 s5 q- N8 ?# T5 F- vyour own health. Alberta Health and Wellness points out that the* U, d5 a! W4 g9 t- `' ^
influenza virus is contagious and is spread person to person via close
4 ?4 g8 u7 U' s) jcontact. The virus also rests on hard surfaces such as counters and1 T+ P) J0 J) d( j4 J+ c/ V' M
doorknobs and can spread when people touch contaminated surfaces and8 ^' X5 G: Z) F. m$ d N
then unknowingly transfer the virus to their eyes, nose or mouth.
8 \. m7 ^, f7 M7 } APracticing good preventive hygiene (e.g., wash your hands and cover your
9 b c$ A3 P& j& Dcough) and following the self-care practices as outlined by Alberta7 `& x: S3 w3 O5 Q$ ^
Health and Wellness will greatly assist in minimizing the chance of
