To qualify for an Alberta Qualification Certificate based on work experience, a person must:

$ y( f: [9 e2 I4 Xhave at least 8,775 hours and 72 months of ‘hands-on’ work experience as an electrician
% G* a9 Z0 L8 f( U$ J# q- CTime spent on supervisory or foreman duties, counter work, heading the tool crib, or on a training course is NOT counted as ‘hands-on’ work experience.# k* r! k( P3 N4 M. i5 V
4 h" U! }* K% ?; d6 Ecomplete the Qualification Certificate - Work Experience Application and submit it to an Apprenticeship and Industry Training Office0 n/ X, D; _+ o/ C/ h# f- H7 w& ?
! X/ B3 h. C* |8 f; C2 s$ cpay the non-refundable fees as identified on the application noted above ( ]7 R% J+ ~0 W7 h& |- G
This application fee covers the verification and assessment of the applicant's work experience hours/months as well as one attempt at the Qualification Certificate theory examination. The Qualification Certificate practical examination requires a separate fee as identified on the application noted above.! G) P6 r- p& G+ e
