Responsibilities & G6 N+ _9 v4 q( r0 H( E
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. # ]' ?) f' v% j. u+ Y7 g
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
1 _( x( r& T/ t. hAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
. Y: m" `+ @- hOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 8 {/ G$ `* V) m
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
Y& Z" Z8 d3 ~" B! @1 m& ^" \Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
9 i: b7 |" e% G* PExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. ) `' h& H7 U: E9 C, x9 [
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 2 M8 x) m/ W+ l' j$ F+ @
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 6 S0 n' s: _; G% ?( r
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
7 ?2 O& }3 H* o- ^2 r2 {# TIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. 9 }% b( d; K. I; c& C( h
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

9 q: {0 c% R6 u# \9 IA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. $ E2 {3 ^3 v4 O' W
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
8 \6 R- \+ ]6 p( l, Y7 pPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
7 Z+ b7 H/ P& W+ R% hPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ) z9 i, |' t. g# {+ v
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
! D) G6 `9 o$ i( Y/ A. \) KProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
