In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
# s0 n5 F3 l; T$ X4 b3 \1 BPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
% l7 p& n* g. S- Q' G- u1 y2 U, AAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. : `, i' _! `. Y' @+ |/ N$ t6 C
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
2 ~1 w& A6 @" M5 tMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. ; |- K, u4 Y5 W' M8 _# i ^
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. ' t- R7 t. n! x( u& r9 @
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
" C0 C3 `2 I. D- q, q# PEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
' |7 r4 h& O0 c" a/ Q& Y2 m, }Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
F* Z0 o4 P4 @Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.

Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. / `+ v0 |" s' K1 v f
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 5 ?9 m+ s+ F! w2 s. k
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 4 m; N5 h. ?; s
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
1 I0 c" J+ N9 i4 }Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 3 m! x+ u# t' f* r5 U t& `& s! K) u
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. / q: Q. B+ W; L9 j
