In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. : P) a7 J: I# u! Y" L
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
- }, C8 b1 n: YAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. + T. D+ F) k3 k* b: }
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 8 w) _+ @, ^2 e0 P
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. D; V% X8 W* F4 [/ v$ U. H
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. ( ^- f8 ?5 x1 x' o
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.

Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. % {' l$ {& Z: z: b1 L6 l, Y
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. , r3 J4 B3 p! \' P
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. ; B* D& X8 b9 u6 V' \# I
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

8 M' @" e" B& A a- R3 \2 j& K3 A; c. sA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 8 X3 W! y! [/ l5 K. l- j! z
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. & x" k) m t, A5 x; M
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
1 E& ]" x7 ?+ K7 r# Z3 J6 G% _Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
8 F2 E3 p- h& T& OIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
9 k! a# K+ t( hProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
