this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA , D- V, n, Z/ m4 W
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

' m# a) p6 M! g4 UReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and % H$ I/ p) z2 {& }
execution of the YWCA Strategy & C1 B. z0 @% ]5 T# P
$ y% I% `, \7 Z% ~/ @: Z
Specific responsibilities include:  
; ^" T' Z6 P7 m& b/ {' j ; F. ^$ B. l8 k6 _! g
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 2 o! |& h8 z5 k5 p
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
) U. c" D9 F4 M9 y! b, R7 |& c0 Vthe Board of Directors;  : p4 J3 i- s( }$ s" c7 P5 x2 J: ]: j
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 _% H) V+ H4 Sincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
2 ]5 p( b* F3 j+ A1 h6 B' }enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
# V% G( l+ n  [( N- ?% a& ]" x•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and / K( Y* l" D1 L1 C4 G% o
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
8 ]' j% \( }/ b0 n# Zthe board;  . G* i! N+ [2 e' e
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
9 ~# \6 [% g4 O+ Q, E•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
/ l: |: w* e! w: N( C8 G5 J$ {the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ' K" |9 F6 D/ m1 e2 m7 c4 k
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
, ^$ j+ R# z) I0 o0 Xchanging needs of the organization and community;
- r" R$ x) q, b3 C% y! i9 t' H•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
) j! _7 V* A3 L4 t1 T, l4 z& {commitments;
* ~4 t- J& b! \4 e( t7 F3 T•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  * X- p. {( R4 {3 \$ O: q5 @
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ( J& z/ A, b: b+ H
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
  ~, C6 h5 S- g9 k•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
" A# B8 q/ \; n( `•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
7 H7 S: w3 {( Aeffectively and positively represent the association; 6 T9 j) s2 |. W: n

% m8 P8 R3 T- }+ b5 z# }8 h. Q0 ]" M•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
7 F* E/ l  B* ^& Xthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  : u$ }/ [8 j- G' K
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal , P9 `8 \" e8 s4 k
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED - t$ `' l" \- f. V
the forthcoming year;  3 \( G' r5 S, n4 _5 S5 `$ q. A
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical * k# l/ u. {& @* x" C& J4 y
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
; L% S# j/ r0 t% C, T% @" GYWCA Canada; and
( b+ V5 E2 z/ i, v. c8 S•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
# S3 M* D; c0 v: b1 [* l9 }/ ZForces.

•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
. U8 @; i$ q8 u* I( p. {$ Naround decisions, plans and actions;
. i- k1 x( _: ]9 y3 R# P' d•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 0 x& W. _8 }- `, K
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
4 i  `) [- u! R1 ~; rand achievable with realistic timeframes; . {, ~4 ]6 Z5 C
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ' O5 I# t0 b/ w+ v
simultaneously;
! R4 X4 i6 m3 Z$ T•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
# Z$ v9 [0 n6 J" ?, \/ @rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 6 l9 c5 }1 K8 U9 p1 U/ d
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and   p( M' ^( @# N) A& _) b
•  Superior negotiation skills. $ b4 X% h7 e4 L& \/ _

•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience * b0 v: r  o5 K+ `4 F+ b$ C
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
! ?% n& L- ^$ q& ~% W- o( ]•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 6 q" p3 S7 a. u
abilities; " p; ^0 H. [; z. |9 m2 Z
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, , U& T9 [# \4 T" a4 X: R8 J/ ?7 P
Networking and Fundraising; & p5 J% M3 Z; ^/ m0 ?/ n
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting * X' Q4 F6 P  q. D. g7 ], U  I7 }+ C( E
and financial statements; and
2 Y: Z: Y$ y2 p" b+ k•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
