Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 7 x. o% W7 E) E6 h2 j
execution of the YWCA Strategy

: [3 A7 e- s2 n; Y* o• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ! G6 V) @6 i1 m7 |+ [3 K
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
7 t$ @+ L* C7 m" f! U+ i% I9 gthe Board of Directors; 4 `) h+ d. w9 ~: G! p) w1 }2 E
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations # A' i2 k/ X% {- F7 o
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to % E2 q( S: B r; u7 d3 ]7 r/ j* Y
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 6 ^8 P& z0 w! ]: Z7 M
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 1 d* r/ I- ?. l3 C
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
* O/ ?( l) A! F5 y6 ?• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion : N ~ |( o3 |3 ]9 D- M3 a
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; e4 S- e3 B0 E' B* {
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the / B$ `' p9 D1 V# e
changing needs of the organization and community; 7 R: D& U$ A8 U
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue ! I7 k% E# P# z( ~& D
commitments; . c ?! h; ]$ ~. l$ ~2 i( L
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 1 R& c4 Y E& n9 P! ^% m; e
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective $ i; j' e, `; L6 @* _' H. b
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 9 n) i6 p: y- h, `$ R
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

( | p( D4 J0 Q; i• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 8 A0 v' I; \/ C& _% k. @$ _
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
7 B/ v: G* l# c6 u; C/ L• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal - ^) [& h. h1 M, M
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
: O# D& L) y) ^3 J: Xpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. [5 D2 _$ w% m' x8 _

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
7 E' @# u3 ^% G, j2 @" c7 p9 P0 w• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation " K, P, {, m$ c# v
abilities; ! _/ n# k$ j! D9 `; n# l' L
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
/ {9 H1 e+ f* w2 ^( wNetworking and Fundraising; # m$ |& i1 y$ V3 ^- m
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
2 _* H$ @; z& Y0 K) Rand financial statements; and
! ?$ N( n, p4 F( s• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 0 T5 r; {. z3 \1 j. v) J
