8 N, W+ d$ F0 ethis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities

; B. |* H0 E' ]  P9 c5 ~, mReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and * H- Y+ }: Y' Y! J
execution of the YWCA Strategy
- k% n4 I9 h9 {. a* {3 |1 q$ i8 Y/ G + x# k- @/ d/ ~' o: v
Specific responsibilities include:  * Z1 _9 V, l0 Q$ j
- l& @' ?" g# z+ R; J% j
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
% o7 K  e. x; `8 U, h6 c# ?the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by # w' N  w! d2 H: b9 y: U
the Board of Directors;  $ ^( z- N7 W4 [7 [) u" `9 L2 V
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
( G9 Z+ N7 X1 l4 oincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to . P4 M6 r0 [9 o" ~# y- @2 m
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 0 y$ m& Q* t* Z2 c/ c/ u3 F3 F! @  I
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ( X2 B" q- a6 s* @. s/ q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
+ b# g' @* N7 k6 qthe board;  
6 w  ?/ q/ |# B  J+ A% A+ O1 I2 i•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  4 p2 y" Y' C9 L6 F" c' y
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion & m$ ?1 W1 V, L) y: p3 c
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; $ X: x/ s2 g( Q# Y9 V4 Y9 t4 f
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the + L% j6 O+ U7 u& Y) _3 S' L
changing needs of the organization and community; 4 e5 c5 J& e6 `8 h/ u' m
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
& _, Y4 ~8 Y! v2 g& M. X6 E; D, icommitments; 4 ^9 t! s# M6 {/ R  z1 ~7 J6 ~( t6 u
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  ; _( I; Y& _% g5 P
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective + w& U6 f' w6 |; F0 e+ ~: P! d
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
4 h( P4 H3 H; H4 X" t" K•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
  X* b) u. p2 E# s! ]0 B: ~•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to " t9 f( R) U  n! U4 h" D" l5 I; I$ V
effectively and positively represent the association;
0 `4 g, S( p* C% g0 K+ \. |* X) y1 z
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 |! K* s5 x% ]3 i: b  D6 W
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  + Y$ T5 E# K+ X0 D7 I/ S& h
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 1 k0 O. P; L+ ]8 ], D- |' J% a
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
2 P9 I/ Q  J* A4 h! nthe forthcoming year;  / O5 P+ ~$ f. C1 z2 B) v5 A3 U, G" `
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ! H2 t- ]' {. i. N6 m- t
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
$ B1 X4 B* b3 A+ k, PYWCA Canada; and
9 p8 @+ w5 c  _•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ; m7 J1 k) C9 _; w! u* A
Forces.  
+ P3 V5 z/ t* E/ p+ b* ~9 y  . y0 f! w: a/ w% @2 r
Required Skills & Abilities
+ o6 O  {! N5 R2 H2 E•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; / |8 m/ q# O5 b4 x! d( |
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 5 p' @( S/ ?3 G
around decisions, plans and actions; . C# o( u; Z9 `" ]
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
1 n: ~  _) U  F•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
& ~4 D2 U6 n, F- v$ iand achievable with realistic timeframes; 2 {( D& P* J2 E
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks % h/ Z, Z6 T( Q! e3 U/ ?. S( e1 g
simultaneously;
! @+ ~4 F9 _9 @; t* Y•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
- n! g7 q2 Q' L. Frapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
' R5 J) W8 f% n' l  c•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
' I: ^* I+ L+ i9 F+ X•  Superior negotiation skills.

' K' z8 K% e7 Q  e Required Professional Designation / Certification
) a0 H5 C. H6 d( i: q+ b. s. r•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 3 z0 `! }& W! r1 E7 M
& f5 F5 N5 f4 t5 {9 _1 X1 l
Required Experience 0 c; h# Q/ \( R$ ~
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
' T0 ^& N0 W. g•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ; S* O" A: v& b" N! [  v. d: h
abilities; 5 g$ [% Q. l4 @" h6 K
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
" F( c. @! N: @7 b) DNetworking and Fundraising;
7 I. D% n" T4 c8 C& T•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( v4 _3 V& I" o/ K* q& b, Cand financial statements; and 5 V5 h& y. L6 ?9 R
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
) d/ @4 H1 g" |: |- ^7 c+ W  p" kcentered perspective. . `; r' Q  N6 ?9 ^3 `$ t) M, @
