FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

' G( t" \2 F) }6 XDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
; c2 \3 z; u. S4 E; B5 F; r& }• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

" f* U$ H( U) |; A• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
7 r. s' b9 L' M0 b• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
0 @) y  b+ i) Y7 u. b' }• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
0 Q8 p- [$ m, s' Q• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
/ O3 B% d+ N0 f/ q. d3 B" K+ P• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
$ `3 V9 J$ a5 R; Y( ^7 X3 E• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
1 A2 _9 z  f: |' i' |+ k• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
