As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
) T' r2 _! K6 ?3 f- [% d' x0 w• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
; t' f; c& W0 m4 m* p' E• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
; A5 v7 \8 O* `/ H; SBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
  v$ x8 P! b6 I8 @/ q  Z/ X• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
0 l  \. @) e' ?1 D, [" Z• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
; O3 @$ u& M  Q4 l9 f! [3 S# a8 N• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
  s; N2 K- @/ r. G7 M• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
3 T" c4 m' _0 j9 V  ^! v• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
# h  P* @6 q% K• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
. m5 M" S2 l, m, b; Q$ L# V# K' ?• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
2 s$ ]' V6 J  }! s7 v0 H• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
, [2 U$ L* b( g• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
6 v( @% \! A, J, ~$ e2 f• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
