FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
) w) \" e* {( a8 V& I" R• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
, F4 y2 b! y" J0 `" `• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
5 @  N4 \' h, v. s3 V• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
0 U, g* ^7 V' p+ v7 c" K4 J0 a• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
2 o1 A- ?3 `1 s2 b1 {+ q8 F! B• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
' _2 H; R( Z- S8 G7 e, T• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
8 l0 r6 H4 w6 Q+ @- c& o+ v• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
5 M' a1 H" l/ t( @9 Z- m1 k• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

/ @# s: x( O7 I  Q( RSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
6 F9 E1 [' t) M7 h8 A• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
& e! Y7 `/ w8 I7 I  t5 \" i• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
: `% h2 a* f* A2 Y7 e) \% P7 M( ~• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
# Z5 V9 i: T$ k• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
* f% L' K5 M' }/ O- D• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
