Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

+ R; p- u: d8 F$ ]0 D Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
, w: D' A" }' k2 c/ N Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
4 P0 ~* O/ T# Z- C! x Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
" [( s  t: C% _& o% T Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
$ K! B3 x$ n4 g0 \ Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
  c1 v6 {9 E+ h3 Z4 P6 c; X& D* L Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
" i; Y% V' {7 I8 t& ` Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
! `0 o2 e  j# U3 }starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
