Responsibilities
& [% V( U$ I, }. [, Z Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
6 F& Y; j2 C+ P4 X9 ^5 L+ S Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
' i4 j' F; m8 R& ?* [0 C. t# y- p: ~ Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
% f: |4 T/ t1 A$ o; k* G Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
 Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
4 {: N/ O( X6 H3 f) r# s Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
 Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

7 l% ?, \- b1 x+ H/ BQualifications
 Social work degree or diploma
 Current RSW designation preferred   
0 m6 q" k6 Y) P' g. ^) U Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
* ?# @" @0 X6 [$ L) B& ^ Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
' q4 O9 H9 y8 w Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
 Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
& f! \  }6 n/ |# K Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
( |  P) ^! K+ T5 l3 Y Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
