• Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (ASET), and

Beginning in 1995, ETIP:' f+ S9 O7 Q# v% l
• supports foreign-educated engineer and engineering technologists, and" k' Z8 T' H+ y4 P
• helps participants develop the skills and recognition needed to work as

Alberta is home to many foreign-educated immigrant engineers. These
# C4 @6 k6 d# limmigrants are highly educated and experienced, yet many may find it9 e" G2 K0 B9 [ w- L( `
difficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not
' [; H8 k* S( \! }/ x+ c5 J. Nrecognize their international experience or credentials.

4 y: X2 q; U* f8 t# ]) K& ? SIntegrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work" {7 K8 a8 c% H9 V& A% O6 r
experience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or

The ETIP program involves four phases:

0 Y- ^" q* q9 A' ~. q% EAs of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have
& Y7 r+ ]0 h, c7 y! X4 Y ~found engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.
, d( K$ @ G u0 X+ k' eIn 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of* F' x n4 H9 @' V3 T
graduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,1 P$ y: l# D; @6 ?' n
with over 90% employed at three months post-graduation., J b. C$ X& m! w% _
