The Engineers and Technologists Integration Program (ETIP) involves a5 S# Y c o& p1 o# s7 Z

Beginning in 1995, ETIP:
% r( `% `& {% V) o" z• supports foreign-educated engineer and engineering technologists, and
/ h6 N* @4 X: j& m; l6 m: d• helps participants develop the skills and recognition needed to work as

􀂉 ETIP is a 10-month long program, beginning every January.

immigrants are highly educated and experienced, yet many may find it$ W/ t9 a9 H$ L2 p& ]6 W0 k) k
difficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not% A7 i! v9 P, t. |6 N
recognize their international experience or credentials.

Integrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work
% @2 p& ?5 E' Q0 Q% S4 Jexperience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or1 l( R' n6 Y* q+ I7 F
English as a Second Language.

The training components of ETIP assist participants in developing skills

• engineering-related training delivered at NAIT:

• first-aid training, and

• ASET is a professional association that provides credential assessment

Edmonton immigrant community.

9 L4 v7 l$ F1 r; @ C: r8 UAs of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have ?; z; @* d" a! H: @& P% T; X+ s
found engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.5 C# [$ p) C2 Y" q7 e; h+ H- I3 X
In 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of
2 ^3 U* O1 J; I* M; h) Rgraduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,- _# `+ g9 y! w- J
with over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.
