- n+ K0 `/ l* L- p. CRoles and Functions
" b# r6 ]7 u, pThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the9 ]0 {; r/ w0 E2 `6 w
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the8 q6 R6 V, @/ m5 r3 ^# i
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
: O) S& t) V' O0 dthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
, e1 U; x6 V @1 Doperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular. T2 I! W/ ^. p7 F& i7 L; L1 L m4 t
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
2 T5 {" j1 E* O5 wconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
3 B# T! j- ` L1 |: {employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
' B2 l* W3 a+ d6 j: N" ^staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend7 F7 d- N4 m9 ^# k1 y
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.3 K* X% \ p1 | g! ]) b

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
9 S- m, |, Y* J$ y0 H1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the+ w! [: _' x/ ^2 H' Q1 K& h: W" J6 }
officers of the Coalition
- r- r* r) d) K, z3 y2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural* @: J4 h- `) h. y& ?' l6 O
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations& ^; L. Z% |& v% h) N
and public institutions
0 ] o9 `8 i) F" `- G% N+ o5 f3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
3 {, N: n* U; @1 c9 t5 s0 H) zfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
U; O8 H. @" `1 G# B% z3 H" R4 n4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community

6. Advances the community animation process as a bridging strategy for civic

7. Offer opportunities for service providers to learn and experience working* t2 v) p/ e0 H* w7 h* Y( ?
with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically' B& P3 b$ B; i1 D
diverse backgrounds/ q6 c6 I; u7 F$ e" T; n
- ~9 J L$ p t+ FAdministrative responsibilities:
( s1 K; m; c' R/ \7 [7 o1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its2 ]' W8 d& i0 F6 z
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
/ T y) L; Q6 ~directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the( }3 e( |9 F) O; r
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.: f+ r" Z6 n8 p2 x/ _% K
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
4 T. K0 p6 s( X( g& c, MMulticultural Coalition
. Z4 x Q% }0 K1 b! Z S/ PRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board: K& x, ~- C& f/ E2 M0 Z
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
0 h* j; u+ I3 F; Iimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
4 _' |8 x) v, c* x: k7 aoperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.. } D9 r5 I7 M& H: S/ `
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and
8 q8 k; W- `$ A2 e$ ^2 T- Haims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should" R: d5 d/ i9 _7 ?: |6 ?2 [, l& ~
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
/ q6 \6 s! X: o. D+ W5 v9 Yparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
; x2 w/ |9 L# ^3 v$ e# G1 Kfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
& L5 P& m, s6 K" Y* G& P: Vdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial+ f9 \8 E8 K0 s: Q( z
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
# ?' R4 e4 M% a; `- H2 Qmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of, \7 J4 s- Z0 ?; ]$ `7 u
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of

Pay Range & Terms

possible extension depending on funding.
