Roles and Functions0 M8 u9 q" h' j: W( {8 J
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the
+ P) X7 U" X _- ]: J: G! L% _organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the9 Q6 m+ c5 k3 U: N7 F4 T0 y
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has9 Q) h/ ~, o* O( ]8 q+ k# H0 {' K0 j
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress, A8 K8 m( p: @6 z: N% ?
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular
. t) p) Y( Z8 P6 ~& w2 k2 x% i3 \board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is/ x7 r4 d' o" l4 d. K5 V$ X* g
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an9 u: q7 p4 Z! }* b
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
$ i% S, P! }8 t: m Fstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend1 d, b2 k) ]4 ] _+ x: x' {
all board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:

1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the; R% H/ S: a4 o9 y- O% k
officers of the Coalition
, r9 I, \/ j8 b' H3 |2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
, j: h% B5 }9 M/ x4 z+ x8 R+ Korganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations

: [ w/ V& Y8 E8 A( O3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
% i# x3 G; I6 Wfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives0 L4 V0 ?4 u6 U- T" W" K6 o2 U1 m
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community6 j8 G2 F% c& O B
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community: w% W6 l- v8 x! F1 H/ g! Q

participation of ethnocultural communities with the larger Canadian society

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically$ I8 l- A7 [7 e

& J5 E+ X& ^% R t4 H `Administrative responsibilities:
# S+ y% c9 i# l3 N1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its$ {! r/ u/ d# m% @6 c; j: D
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of
4 I9 y" P0 [' `* N9 J- Ydirectors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the7 t z- E: n4 K w9 J- ^, c# h
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.8 ]5 i4 Z% W2 _* E
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the' N, d$ o' g: {- E

0 _( v: D: Z3 Z2 K+ k, @Relationship of the Coordinator to the Board, {. @# `. h& c" I- s
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to; S" G5 p- Q& J9 \7 G& J/ u
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating e: ~9 |! b" y+ h. m
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
# Y( b7 O4 B% i" E rThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and) K6 D2 i/ e+ ^7 G3 x
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
( L5 K1 o7 t. J8 W1 p. @be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership6 ]: o1 p% m- L u3 E
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and) U# e- P U9 q# y* d6 Q/ A
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
# v0 d8 l- h7 {" pdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
/ d$ g' _( V% b: T) T0 N% Qstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
: i4 m' p* \1 h5 |1 g7 T) nmatters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of- T+ c" p/ n" f! i0 W# s: J
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of. o" O! V3 l3 u" o4 A# X

3. Experience in writing grant proposals and accessing funding

10. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (World, Excel and Power

This is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with

Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with experience
