 Provide ongoing positive encouragement and support to clients accessing the Resource Centre.
& q! F+ I7 U- S; x Continuously interact with all clients in the Resource Area to ensure that their job search requirements are being met.
, T! u- Z0 e  a& Y Provide information regarding job search strategies and labour market information.
- N" R' j/ P9 V5 B1 i Assist clients with resume and cover letter development, effective job search techniques, interview skills, and accessing the hidden job market after workshop completion.4 u6 c$ L: [) I8 e4 \
 Maintain all resources in the Resource Room insuring that they are current and relevant.

 Be required to work flexible hours, with some evening and occasional weekend work

Settlement Counsellor
+ _1 z7 b% c* E$ o; F* x6 ~ Engage with and build a professional trusting relationship with newcomers, treating them with dignity and in line with the values of the Bredin Institute.

 Promote Bredin Institute’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives.& ~; Z0 |6 d$ ]$ t/ H! W
 Encourage independence and self determination in newcomers
( M3 H, f# g" m+ M' w Work with newcomers in assessing their needs and a needs-based settlement plan.
& \1 a. N3 ?9 u$ [" S Liaise effectively with a range of service providers, both voluntary and statutory, in order to ensure services are available to newcomers.* d3 V; r5 N; E
 Accompany newcomers to other agencies and to act as advocate as necessary.1 _" t) a8 w8 u
 Ensure that newcomers know and understand their entitlements.
8 |8 L. _# }7 }& L6 U Keep up-to-date all other administrative tasks as directed by the Program Co-ordinator.5 n0 o5 C/ f. W+ S+ ^
 Represent Bredin Institute at meetings, conferences, seminars and other events
' H1 X( o: |. D( E$ H& a Attend multi-agency and multidisciplinary meetings, as required

4 |$ [; S  W* }  b# m/ z Responsible for intake, orientation and completion of workability assessments.
- T$ W9 z- ^& h$ ^3 m$ k/ u Deliver program overview to potential clients, as well as other interested parties.
; v4 o& l+ ~* y5 w Screen and assess clients’ skills and abilities through a workability assessment.( n5 f+ Y* I$ x6 Z* v9 u; R
 Determination of which stream of services most appropriate for the client.: R6 `! R: P* S" J$ Y* g8 P
 Provide referral information on other services that may be more suitable for the client.1 u- X  W0 b4 t* q; h! D
 Cooperatively with the client, develop an individualized service plan.! I9 O. q8 J8 N
 Create and update clients files on Mobius computer system

 Interact with participants on a continuous basis so that the Service Plan progress can be monitored throughout the program and into the follow up period

 Ensure that participants have access to the required supports to successfully complete their Service Plan
" o. S6 b( x  l- {: z/ o Assist clients in maintaining a job or in identifying barriers/issues that keep clients from obtaining/maintaining employment0 ~' O6 Z* h" f) T( Q8 V; P1 W3 `
 Assist clients with obtaining required documentation for working in their profession in Canada8 h! j! G: t: B( O4 V  n3 Q
 Develop and maintain knowledge of current programs and services available for participants' E; ~& G& f: I& k; l
 Complete participant reviews with the participants
) Q% W/ `; Z7 p" }% X8 i9 F$ m. { Complete 90 and 180 day follow up with client after training completion
; P6 H& m# N/ B8 X3 v" C Perform other duties as assigned by manager/coordinator
