Position: Outreach Worker
) b# e- n, l0 `- E: v, Z/ s
. w/ k4 h3 M0 }+ V, o0 \/ EJob Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
; ^* a3 [: s9 w- v- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
2 n, P" x, d5 S' n- provide support to ISP staff
! a4 e/ Y, \& m$ k+ S- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
6 ^' g6 O6 }: I- k- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
% h- N: {2 e1 R- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
" A- _! [4 O! C- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
+ T& n0 d( }# P+ O% ?! c+ W- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- u; \: ?2 D9 H) D- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

8 j& k4 u  `% \. V9 L6 w) TQualifications
% d$ z9 q' a  M, D* S) c# ~- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
# K! z) l+ @% \6 |- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
1 z3 o9 q- {) {5 j. O- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
5 S' B* W$ H* [' ~! ~% Q- good interpersonal and people skills

- valid driver’s license

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
