T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
/ A/ J6 C: p4 M/ QAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering 0 F! O8 w8 E; I
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
' s( a, f1 p1 {" G0 hinterpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
5 i3 m- i7 X, f0 V; w# s8 ]- iand Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.7 k0 c3 J7 q* b' }

What will take place in the sessions?6 c5 e5 A+ V* l+ S# @
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.; g% A% z1 X' l0 G- y1 I! T

These activities will enable youth to: L* ?! _: K j$ _* L
 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation5 C6 k9 d4 w/ j# u- O
 Learn how to access community services and programs* ?6 U' f% ~0 ]
 Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills

/ C+ v) u9 G1 f8 [3 I/ O3 P- Y5 rRegular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
$ r5 z9 M# B( f- w! YSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily5 ?1 i) q% M1 v- ~
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily, E; ^( }, H: Y( M! A* y/ Z/ h

Who can participate?
7 {, m" L; d6 |& `6 u8 YAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.+ C" [3 K7 t: Y6 O- w8 e
/ i! e0 I, u* u1 i& ^What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
, q! K, e- W! w y& F( hIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

Volunteer’s Duties:# A& u/ D; I$ |. _' d" N
6 a( q6 D4 U, i% x5 s0 ^ Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies 8 n/ I& B2 s( N! ^2 i
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
# X1 ^4 ?$ e) i, f4 k, ? I Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
/ h0 a, z9 R8 y1 S Facilitate or assist in small group discussions5 `* c( ]$ Q* P7 P0 f
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic7 ?$ s: O" R7 e! M7 ~- u
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips
% T/ a( e9 ~* n- S1 m' \& n Assist in program planning r1 _# ~& ~5 _( D
 Be a role model& T5 T4 S2 Q; \+ n/ b0 S- e

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years): U% o( i. O; U6 t3 T
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer8 j2 q- N1 d# a9 B! Q
