青少年义工机会

T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
$ M$ [* G8 Q* G5 aAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering , c$ i5 l9 }# G  V
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
6 G4 ~+ h1 N9 A! W, }+ n% |% |interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
3 X* D; Z' E* Q, W- a5 l+ |and  Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.
; k( K( l6 ?, N. e4 H$ z
# X! z3 w" Q0 C' u) X7 y( B" m* [2 H9 g
6 r# E3 F1 a) t8 A) y7 a7 n0 Q9 BWhat will take place in the sessions?
. o7 R/ ^# F2 I4 `Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

. l7 L) w9 D+ JThese activities will enable youth to:
7 [' Z% w7 I" t# j- H( I Explore personal interests in arts and recreation
* F' J( t$ o4 p Learn how to access community services and programs

 Identify personal leadership strengths …

: M% b  w: i1 f: K% ]( WProgram Schedule:+ ]8 t4 U4 I; f/ g' K" s
Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
5 E% _, w0 |4 ]3 XSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily: o- ]' S3 {! _5 g9 |) i/ H
                              2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
) w. |& [& t, Y' Y( F: V$ K& l" |# K- K+ g+ ~6 `3 n" v! F4 I% i
Who can participate?
2 r  Y$ _) Y# b. cAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.
6 N+ k" X. L( h# V. @' Y7 P1 K, |; N: I9 f; f0 S
What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
4 T, {  b" q/ g& j3 }- Y, mIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.; V0 p5 I( X1 G- O4 v
+ a, m: ^/ V* p! f* B
) j& j" n# Q! w* `$ Y. z4 n
Volunteer’s Duties:& {0 V. s: |* Y9 D) Y: J
* M# _+ Q" s) a7 I5 G
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies . T% Q0 X# U( J7 [
 Facilitate and/or coordinate   activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development . t* A: c) l8 N' D5 X5 v) r5 {! ~
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
+ I; ^( ]0 _* h& x/ i3 D Facilitate or assist in small group discussions9 M' O( b9 W# [4 f: q
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
0 N& s4 D! k+ k# w Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips$ R  k" M5 x$ A! W
 Assist in program planning
7 T' j$ }7 K* k+ p- n$ ?: R Be a role model
5 l, L! n/ o. d4 \1 O) d! U
4 d8 {  }2 E/ Q; [1 J, LVolunteer Commitment:. K. [% b7 ]' P/ P  X
% y: ~* W" o" ^; @- B% J
 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
" D# {( A: W( O2 p One time volunteers:  minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer
  h& ?; N: l+ f$ n4 D& V/ g/ w+ a/ W) m) h2 k) _8 d9 ~6 e! k' ^

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator7 l( H' ?  E  v! W7 u( ]$ l
 Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program: [: e2 [# O7 P& D% |5 T
 A team player
" z; V' e/ s# C5 B Able to work independently with minimum supervision! \. E2 E: B, a7 Z( m  d1 i" P+ c
 Value the building on strengths of  children, youth and families
# h, w' `1 s( B) b4 j Willing to work with youth including youth at risk  ^1 T8 u$ w( O, A3 _
