YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
/ w0 d0 m: b8 }Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
9 v  U' b4 o5 z8 snine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
. r  \0 C  ?$ p% N9 L. L, l5 F: kThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

$ z* }9 {5 H4 X( `8 s. p0 q- mproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
  a6 ^: D$ u' j: h2 GThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
" f7 O+ z5 I3 G$ Q- w" R* |9 w& `and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
6 f9 _$ |5 N9 \2 s" `8 k+ a3 Q0 {" Wfollow-up once the program is completed.

' ]# S. B7 \9 p* r$ r7 \Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
- X$ H9 @4 R( K# K+ l  N  TYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
