5 K! C6 Z- m6 jYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
: o; r0 Z7 Y7 I% q- c* U& h4 Ppeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
9 `, q7 F3 L, G( a6 g! lThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

6 t: F) E: E* U2 y* mproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
" ?0 y; \% U) e+ Z* F$ g0 x" iemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
. ~# y+ [* h* n( b( CThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
! B! U$ ^( K. c, M3 S# gand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
