YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
& j4 C! |; N! E. pAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
; Z# I0 Q8 X2 a. Kpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
2 R% ^+ |3 B, l& K) ]' j: {employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
  R5 B+ b5 i) mThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
7 t8 x- l& x; ]! d" |personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
7 ?: E5 b, A; ~9 eand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

) O% r) f' ]; l) mVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
