YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
! i- ^" J( i+ F% Q7 I' B( Lnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
. {1 ?; |0 x' ]8 x) N  Lpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
' l/ B$ ?/ \& T, Q
7 p+ B' y" m! j0 e1 Zproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
8 x/ }& m( _' x) v: H  ^The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
2 j  T7 \. [& ^6 e' `9 L7 ^the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

! g6 r% R& |0 ^4 A$ fYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
