我所知的４种常见外墙：
１）Vinyl Siding 最便宜，最不防火。
２）Hardi Board 看上去比 Vinyl Siding 宽，是合成的材料，防火。
３）Stucco 施工成本高。防火防水好，但近看不好看，与窗门衔接粗糙。
４）Acrylic Stucco 最好看。但要求内侧不进水，对其它工种要求较高。

现在比较贵的外墙材料是acrylic stucco, 区别于水泥stucco优点是颜色选择多，不容易有裂痕，保温性能较好。造价也不过是$7-8/sq.ft, 加2“泡沫保温也不过$10/sq.ft。 2400sq.ft.的房子外墙大概在3000 sq.ft.左右。最贵的acrylic stucco和vinyl siding 差价也不过20000

Acrylic + insulatuion is called exterior insulation and finishing system (EIFS), 10 to 20 years ago used more in Californina, but got lawsuits against the contractors. The reason was the inevitable cracking around the windows, doors, will elad to water moisture in, and then stay with the wood structure forever since the acrylic finish will not allow water going out. This is different from Potland cement stucco with small cracking on the surface working as breathing channel.

This is not new technology, just Edmonton is somehow backward in building construction. Do not know the consequneces applied in this extrem cold and hot weather between summer and winter.

Cememt stucco is cheaper in materials, expensive in labour, but acrylic stucco is opposite, easier to use in winter construction. It does not mean last longer at all. Initially, it is beautiful, the same as sythesic paints, or plastic siding.

所以我上文说＂对其它工种要求较高＂。以前那种木框是不行，但是带flange的PVC window应该没问题。

As 15th floor said, acrylic stucco is nothing new, it's been around for a while 至於是否美观好看，只能说是各花入各眼而已。楼主如有勇气试新，可考虑一绿色产品名ENERGARD WALL SYSTEMS，据称是FIRE，MOLD，MOISTURE RESISTANT，可算是目前较佳之BUILDING ENVELOPE，再加以CUSTOM METAL SIDING，应可无虑了，不过价钱比上述所有的高。

ACRYLIC STUCCO虽然造价高，但是冬天保温效果特别好，热量流失少，可以省下不少取暖费

加上人工, 可不就小10w了,这里的人工费，尤其是bulider的，too high

所有价格连工包料，实际谈价钱视工程大小，比这只低不高。提供材料，现金支付人工更能省10%以上

your information is absolutely correct. a complete EIFS SHOULD always include : completly sealed peel & stick membrane, rigid insulation with water drainage cut out to the inside surface, and flashing at the bottom. This will make sure any moisture/water could not get to the wood sheathing. Unlike many house in the south side of U.S. our insulation/vapour barrier system is way better and more efficient keeping warm air inside, and prevent cold air getting into the building. No system is absolutely perfect, it all depends on the installer to put them up properly.

这地方的房子不管是VINYL 还是STUCCO外墙。只要一着火，结果是一样的--就是一个大火球。
