depends on which toast master club... I have been with one over 12 years ago and visited over 25 in UK, USA, Hong Kong and Singapore... Those in Edmonton's pretty focus. There is one organized by Business Link, apart from public speaking, there's opportunity to do some business mixer as well.

The Toastmaster club activities get you to USE English like in real life, I believe. So, it's good.
I once attended one in downtown Shanghai. Haven't been there again, mainly because I live in the outskirts. When the new metro line connects to my town, I will go there again...

我觉得，就是给你机会让你说，不管好坏都说好，这样就有信心了，有了信心说起来就更溜了。就像女人之间互相夸，有好处，感觉好。不过听的人具体啥感觉不好说，反正我要是听到难听的英语，就有点想躲。

I've heard of it and it's located somewhere in downtown. The main focus of Toast Master is that members help each other improve public speaking skills.

很不错的，我参加的toastMaster club在calgary Trail 和 51 ave交叉口，每周三举行活动，有一些列的系统训练，不过如果跟不上，有点吃力。好在你可以免费试几次。原则上是无限次试听。
