Responsibilities and Tasks! M9 b4 T( C; e1 Q5 a/ d+ |
8 {7 ]& [# G9 A% u; O/ r- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment / z5 M- N: k5 R' r
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements, M: g9 `& V2 G1 v
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines2 \& w7 f3 ]! Z" N" V$ ?" {
- Select type and size of pipe required, b7 t2 g% q+ p6 g! E4 y* o3 L3 Q
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools( y2 E3 R) B; i$ E% K
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system5 R( Z6 r3 F. J' W: c
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems- J I$ Q0 C6 `
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment3 |: E7 Y+ [. W4 q: b
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system* |! @) X$ d1 p, Q
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system5 V5 h, Z) [# i; |) O9 `( |. @
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program

Required Qualifications
+ c- @' j5 m! q, r: P% k6 F! J# ~
4 t& n& L! n8 l0 A% M1 a( g- Completion of secondary school1 |# y4 t! [3 U( u
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
. n6 V+ ^. _6 f# Q1 v& q- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
0 ?& r E" T8 v( n2 g* p- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

- Safety tickets are considered an asset
