6 |' q- B: |+ V$ S& Y

- I7 X6 Y5 Q: S5 d4 H  d        1. I couldn't care less. ) @5 K- u% ]# n
5 N* a3 ~: ]( t+ O/ ?
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: + L6 q: p* I6 D4 I: d1 N

0 P- j* f6 U8 k% I 人家如果问: What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
/ e: H  ~' s7 b% V' R
. U* |8 Y( b1 n$ V+ z5 x 你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
2 J/ i& p! V/ z8 A
3 w  C. N% `* H( [+ g How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
1 l; w, F: r/ w; |! i% U: o
: F" M! Z+ F! S! X' h3 Q2 V1 K) N I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) 7 Z7 N7 M' x9 a7 m- B

" o0 H( w9 Y/ }% g I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
) f) G. o' r* v, Q1 k" a% M
Yes, you do(care). 8 L" s% L  `0 U4 N

' N" `2 C5 X6 c. \ 至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
# q9 X3 e4 E2 B( d5 k" S, |$ z! W  N, [, f( ~6 x( n; y1 ]1 V+ ~
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) 9 V- \5 n" r2 `5 Y6 J$ Q6 ^

8 d& w7 G7 G9 d4 L6 h+ | I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
% K, Y7 Q+ B8 W7 p# ^3 t
4 W9 Q& v. P: `. w5 X I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. - ^$ P- I9 i, T* {! k

4 H8 J3 @" r( Z/ i9 U3 q, L
, N8 U+ b" Q) w, p; l. u I couldn't be more wrong. - X9 k  p3 |' U. ]6 s

: _" i# o/ O$ D2 R  z/ v4 R

  V6 S( p$ r8 `+ S& Y' d 不过,严格来说,I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
. Z# q5 b! \, ~3 E; ^' a2 Q9 {5 T) H6 C: U) o: I$ y
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
  f- V& ?5 x3 H, }" l* q8 y* h0 P+ z, S
  2. No bones about it. . s/ F! G: ^' p# K) s) {& g

& G* N3 ]; s: z& C2 F8 i: N. y 意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
( ^: @* b0 Q2 B- [1 C4 I# j# Z- t+ q2 M7 d& A
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) ; M( B7 ~  z8 Z$ i& n

) V+ N* @) l+ N Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
" q, p( D, \& [, |$ ]# {: ^9 a$ }; e# q! w1 Y* z( e
When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
& _# ]# L* o4 o4 g% {* n; ^% c0 v
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) * z/ v7 D6 r% Y: e: Y' j( ?/ d
& p! Z. l+ E" ?9 T3 H
  3. take it on me! ' a! H1 h* i) K6 K
" {" i* t2 {0 p9 U  v( n
意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
7 D6 p5 }# q, p8 Z1 u
2 a; V, S2 p8 i) r! ]' ~ Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy)
& `9 ^* ?# z* b  _) o8 I/ k$ w3 Y9 N) l, c9 }" F3 |/ }$ V; s: o& \
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." : Y3 O6 U  T/ C) ^4 F, y3 X7 b& U
9 ?# y1 Y: s3 g3 D
Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
2 k& J# z! H9 e3 [

( z$ n0 f. [; z# V2 A0 h (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) ( c, S$ Z, E5 X! N$ Y' h8 j. C' }: p
2 {$ i  Z+ w* K- r* k
  4. I am from Missouri.
7 N+ C* i8 Q9 C# C  a) g/ d6 |" D2 j. \2 U
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 7 p& [8 H7 I) l7 ?% I' ~
2 |+ X) ~9 [% N( _, S
(也有半开玩笑性质) 例如: ' F  T/ T0 l, X$ J: i: H

* m: m1 C" q) p+ ^2 [6 y  J7 c  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. (他是来自密苏里州,所以不容易说服他。)
& X0 a, |+ f2 u' _9 ~% T6 W5 a5 I' u* [- P1 U: B$ h
Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
0 W6 u7 z8 m5 F# N& ~, W
5 p) H  b6 h, D  { We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
/ C, G# g7 \) N1 h. ~- ~% d4 G3 D* w& j, ^1 @- D2 q+ j
As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
