　　North country scene:

- k; t4 P/ y+ X* V　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　Both sides of the Great Wall
3 R' o, v( r. \# S  L  F
　　One single white immensity.

8 U; M! z, r8 r1 z　　The Yellow River"s swift current

　　Is stilled from end to end.
9 E6 n9 m% I; S6 d. G  s4 i
　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,
6 k; @* ]' @9 y
　　Vying with heaven in stature.
* h$ {/ d5 z0 T) q6 |8 j
/ G# b; ~! Q2 {　　On a fine day, the land,

' n+ N) D' F# K+ l. a7 N　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Grows more enchanting.

+ `/ u6 a+ C( X　　This land so rich in beauty

　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

7 A7 S+ T9 n  a0 [　　Were lacking in literary grace,

　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

　　Had little poetry in their souls;

　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

7 \! J; Q) z/ A' d　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

　　For truly great men

　　Look to this age alone.

　　江山如此多妖 引无数英雄竞折腰 惜秦皇汉武 略输文采
