Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me:

( n. y) k; A) b- X0 @& N. dI did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:+ z2 h! w. t0 v- M7 R! z
"I am sorry, what are you sending back?" * G4 h4 ~' Z) i" O2 i' i) Y; l( f
He said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
% z3 H2 g9 f, j& ~% |0 v$ x1 w"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?" / G: U& g# ~# ^
"Yes, I did."
3 ]3 l% G E) T# V. D- j1 \6 WFinally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post. / v# h9 D# N, t$ i, S2 s
He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. ! N w2 G6 a$ L3 C8 L
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"
; E' x/ r0 @% ]" ^+ I, g# r9 y"No, I am not. I do not do those things."
: G* e( t5 y2 n2 u1 bHe took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside. 7 a$ q9 D$ \* B; h& ?$ s6 u9 x$ o
I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:# T8 ]! H6 n' H
"Is it okay that I do not write this part?"6 t* Y4 Q% D; D1 b$ H
"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:6 S+ h$ B; M( [6 Q5 g X. V# ]
"I do not have an address."
7 `" f4 h" B' n. qI was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"
7 ?. R9 C6 Y6 e9 ?+ a9 k/ OHe did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."( l% f4 h" m2 ?# x- Z
My heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. 9 h% ^8 J0 X( M4 |/ l
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity. ! E! d* ~ U" ^! R; |
