Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.5 U3 o$ B+ r% _
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.9 s* U0 D% x! S1 I
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.8 n; r8 ~3 ]$ D4 Y
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.5 k: T+ `9 H# h9 a
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
