Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.5 S, e& M( Z: |/ K
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
2 R; C& ]3 q- Z' D" w0 R7 mMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
9 i' s" E( L( ?Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.
( H8 C* C" W" f8 y2 a, @1 M6 |Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
