TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
! o- j$ R3 |, t% z wClarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.. I H7 u4 p8 R2 f$ T$ W
There are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.

( z- R9 T W) n; oThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.7 }- v C. p3 f) G) Q- `- V& y- ^' z
