Position: Part-time Assistant

Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
! a/ E/ S6 M& ?: p2 g" w5 Z, U" P# c5 [Employment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s

Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
1 y; w7 R* @) \! x' [! Dweekend hours.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
. J. ^6 |9 g+ k2 n; ulab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
These responsibilities include:
$ U( Y/ J% E, K% |! W-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
) y/ m' P. p) ^# W7 I-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
4 U5 N% y7 K$ B) D-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
facilities’ maintenance, etc.
-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
5 Q0 g7 v# {1 {; F% nclients’ files etc.
8 d9 H( C$ t! L5 e* \7 DStatement of Qualifications
# F7 ?. o4 L  i: c+ R8 HEducation:
$ \% C9 K9 V" i-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
/ o) A$ r$ L' t/ UKnowledge/Technical competencies:
8 f* Z8 _/ a- x, f( @-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.
& T0 x$ K2 H6 O# u& S$ V
4 r  o7 ]" P( v6 S9 J) I, z( JAssets:
-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
( z1 `' C; t; a( l8 w5 o) P  k  rAbilities:
! R" z& e. ]9 ?0 R-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

relations.
