The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.
9195.

4 U) a' C, m( c- {3 u# eSalary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

. ?" ]: X( H/ g0 ]/ ]" \Duties include: working closely with graduate students and research
technicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
2 |3 z' u8 j& M* Gfor use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
- P8 M, x8 ]+ E6 B4 ~* H+ Minclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
compounds by chromatography.

Qualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
  w5 o) o" F$ hChemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
1 N( e2 M+ i  v& kanalytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
of a team essential.
This position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
! c% J+ y$ Y* ]: Q' Kand chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
hope to work in these areas.
