The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
8 S4 l6 I; c' _6 D! G' z9 G0 osociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
: @; B" F; \- W# Nworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
% A2 P& m( t. Q7 G5 R/ B& Upolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

# [: F. Z$ C' _" H6 UPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
+ H9 ^, i! |: s. q  g) kmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
; E% n' D4 g- ]! ]7 n' Sfor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
/ H" k* w1 g! b6 X' {/ n0 p. Jto implement the organizational policies.

' G$ k% ~4 S: }3 lPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
7 Y! m+ S6 ~5 w8 _* qas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
& s2 `. |0 @$ L+ j) qdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
+ W: \5 @3 w& uthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
2 u% A  G! a9 V9 jincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
* D  q+ ^1 z* {& K, i% M  Borganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
3 {$ J" o( {! ~9 J6 q: ?- A% Zwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

: y& e7 W) t  a  K8 wPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
3 _" c# o. i6 t6 f/ ^+ H( v& E! ]processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
. \6 k1 C$ d9 l) n+ P0 u, h8 sproposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
