society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
8 U& [: ]$ o& Z! fages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
& t" b# f& l8 {. H. A9 l$ Borganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
9 ~# A% R, S8 {& V6 ]4 U* Dand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
& y3 Q+ X, U% {  Ynon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
: ]3 f' g; m9 naffairs at all times.
" S4 P" f. g! ?5 r; u* Z
Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
, {! j* c' V2 w- z3 c7 C& ~arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
3 X) |2 E5 |/ q. Tto implement the organizational policies.

2 n) q" b  ^% `6 U4 J* w/ a5 E4 ^PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
. R! j5 Q2 F6 Gthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

. }; U6 {: c2 X- t- {In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
9 f% q! t  f+ c5 c' u9 u- P, {) Fincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
/ t2 S3 Y0 ^) J; y( s1 m5 `* @2 u8 ^partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
% Z. G( B) B2 F+ G- F! vorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
