Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

FUNCTIONS:
7 O3 N' T a4 U- _• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.8 Q" y7 n) e) H; l
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.' i: {3 ]# H1 T8 R* i
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
3 A4 L. s9 g7 x$ A; d• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
/ g: t3 k& Y- H2 _• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability : t# d9 A$ `0 @" g
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).. E3 _% D( r& V# G2 r7 N
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.! O. f- x8 j' o# Z$ k- n2 G
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.! l8 r' Z' Y; ]& D
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 9 x, n! O* a4 N" Q( W Z, u5 A
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 7 @! @% | n2 @) G
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 5 `, A( U7 x; L2 k
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly0 ?1 U `# V- }* Q1 C' U& S3 s

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
