Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.* z6 q, X) z1 f; Y

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.% J/ e7 s' T. J
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
5 g. m9 S: d# [• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.! b/ q# \( A+ g$ I
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
) u5 I( M, h% {4 e" [• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
* v7 h4 c3 @6 B/ P• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.- }( [) G( { y/ N/ x7 o
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 2 [; i: K4 z2 s5 ]4 A7 }
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. ( S) V l8 Y6 Q
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill - L# ^( @) y9 f8 O! P7 k) U
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).
+ N; b# K4 ~3 J& z# P/ \• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

HOURS OF WORK:9 i% k& l# n7 K) o. ~# o( U/ l4 j
Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
3 n% c! j8 {6 e; n1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
9 G# h0 K+ j0 oThereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly. H0 T5 j! S; X6 c# }/ c

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 & s& M. S+ a4 A" B, }: ~' a
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
