extensive, and are targeted at the all round smooth operation and
0 E( j& Z, ~" U/ j1 e( F! E) sfinancial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as
H; h7 }) J1 u- c# x/ [the logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional
& q3 d1 V0 y; j# v; K# Vvenues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that

focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty,

This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:2 R8 g" Q8 u6 T8 S! B/ ^3 v
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz . X4 p( s, ]+ d5 b( `
Theatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
i7 T; K. Y5 N, Stake advantage of other internal and external advertising ! b7 [7 D" X+ ]2 ]
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional
! {8 h' ?. D2 Z2 f. P& l9 fliterature on an ongoing basis.
$ z% w# j: G+ ?) h+ |" l· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.8 T+ E- w: {* ?/ H7 G: x0 M
· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the ( ~- q" @! p9 w% p4 g( \$ S, Z
use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.

. T, j8 w8 I, Z* C% Q+ z3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities

4 j2 }+ _/ r" l" ^0 Za. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost- : v; h5 ~2 z0 t
effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
/ p" H0 D. X3 m( ovenues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and 8 o6 X" Q- }+ F
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of ; M C; ]) ~* y% A+ G5 l
the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited

# G2 Q! K/ O+ D) l; B7 q· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
4 W' ^7 z+ K! R! C, S- @and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining,
: U) v2 C+ v0 z$ v7 I+ Zevaluating and terminating, as necessary.* B* c o9 D) K
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at
8 g. ^& X! w! wall times, this includes the development and implementation of such * X# T+ {9 g' a2 X$ z! m( F
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and % s& O9 W& l/ `
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
' `/ A: V( ?! [is in operation or needs to be in operation.0 }+ n! D9 x8 r9 i' m; `+ O
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure % T& x) ?1 |; s6 I) K
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to
+ w/ C% N" `# U3 ?facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all

! l% d" A( _8 Q( o* D· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills / F/ r2 k8 g S
and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of ! n* J l1 I' w
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
6 P% ?8 H1 W$ D$ }effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
$ t+ X. Y. W+ a9 [1 gappropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual 6 g8 B) X( r! Y9 u- a; m
is kep up-to-date at all times.
z7 s3 f/ @6 ]· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing 4 x O* b9 z/ O4 g) |0 a
excellent customer service to all renters.
, u1 Y% m0 }9 T· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff
G: ]! C* p pscheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance 6 d7 \4 m7 b% L" X( M5 ?7 o. Q
and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning 8 N2 g+ [7 n9 W8 I) m
the staff of the venues.

the appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.

that additional requests such as licensed receptions are arranged.# a5 l. f- Z G" d

4. Overall Financial Performance

a. To ensure, at all times, that the Financial and Administrative
; Q, u/ ^2 X' ?) B# C3 i7 Nsystems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the 0 C: |( W% T+ K- I$ X' x
appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and contribute in a
5 k1 H8 `* ?* F3 P1 Upositive way to the smooth operation and success of the venues. This : T6 h* Z/ k i6 j6 i. @
includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:3 j5 w% D& C! Z# Q: y1 \
To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate 8 j( ]$ o- g! E( o+ `. d
operating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of
% }5 A& b% \4 oProgramming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets
: H+ H" P# ?& J& p b( LManager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance & 4 k9 O2 Q6 v& Y- C
Administration prior to their submission for final approval.
% K7 o/ e) @8 I* v4 B4 q· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively 1 m+ Z* m6 Y# \+ e. T( N
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects . R5 `9 } M; a6 @
the best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.9 z; O( ]- @9 _3 @) {
· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and

· To discuss those financial statements and other reports, together

aimed at improving the financial and/or functional effectiveness of

( N9 A: D/ c& I( A6 d1 R3 a' Ecosting systems to be used in connection with the determination and
0 B# d @$ f" W; P7 Qsetting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for * {/ t" K. S" d9 ?( B1 l# e* F
events held in the Horowitz Theatre.

( r- Q/ R) C6 Y0 j8 Qthe billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely 5 N1 d$ t# I& ?( {6 @
manner to the Accounting Department.

and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects

Manager of Finance and Administration, and in a manner which 7 L' u- `. v5 L1 P- L. @
contributes positively to the smooth operation and success of the

renting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and ( h! n% e9 V6 f
needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the - ]0 P$ E1 h$ z) Y
venues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

9 g, K% K: l" k' }4 s· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as
' V& q9 A9 X. x! A% M) _% \! N/ qmay be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this
$ l) u9 z2 m: Q9 F, Dis to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes d$ }7 y; i- j9 |+ Q& l- y0 }/ X5 Z' _
in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation, 2 ~, B: G4 K) ]. c+ _
pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing, . i2 E1 e5 S! r9 o
together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary ; ^( I" j9 V) J' a8 Z! {
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and , D8 ?' |/ R7 T( e3 W
functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.
. i- `- f' k7 f* M· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures % o& n6 L: K/ N0 j; E, L
as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost- 9 p$ V2 E0 p$ T1 L! |! |8 L1 b- f
effective operation of the venues.( g/ I( o4 o3 p+ [# f2 Z
· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to ' S+ ?( O6 u# C0 R5 O
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.6 T, `, Q: F6 E" }( |8 v/ Q
· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and
; V3 j! o. W. P. }4 Ythat such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.
/ }( h9 R( H7 R( y/ _5 T· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their
6 q0 T/ w% E3 ]) Vparticular event in the venues.
4 b5 O5 Q; D7 Z4 Z· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and ) i' O9 s! a( N/ g9 p; O: F
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the _. J s5 g7 B: w8 p
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
; f3 [. m0 V' z6 l· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular 2 e7 E" c$ y* y/ M) n
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.9 k4 c9 N- \: e5 [% ?% E& ^' K" K
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
2 q8 ]5 {4 S( F l8 \3 u) K: v' HSU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately & V0 B/ E6 R: B) P. `7 t& j
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in - j2 d. a% l# K% A9 R3 t
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.
$ Z8 r5 E$ U8 F5 e9 x To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, + O7 Q* L( e3 F/ o7 C
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that % t" d4 m. Y( D& T9 C0 a. S) m
the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision . ?! m8 t4 }' }9 A9 M( T/ O
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of
! Y; Q. Y$ s* n0 E; GProgramming and Venues.4 ]! I4 J/ }! b
· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of 7 g( V' ]: |" `8 K: O' c7 [
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of . u1 e3 M& `& W. S/ x
marketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as 8 w, R, L% p1 U$ [
may provide such challenges and/or problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
