The duties of the Operations Manager - SU Venues are diverse and

financial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as

describe all roles and responsibilities in a document of this kind.

2. Marketing and Promotion

$ S4 S* ?" g7 n% t, ~$ t2 N ea. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that
$ F* w2 I n3 }focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, ( `5 P; D9 R% e+ i8 y8 h% \
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
4 L" r4 K3 ^/ A& P$ b; E/ E0 kThis strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:
& h% M3 I% w" n% t& d1 D0 ]· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
' P( } _; }" U) fTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to * g/ T8 m( @. @ v
take advantage of other internal and external advertising " ^/ X9 G# B* j8 K* s- E* o
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional
, p6 `2 p* `2 R5 [) h' wliterature on an ongoing basis.

· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the : T2 ?9 T! S4 s9 W( x
use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities6 p$ Y% a2 v/ [8 _+ D3 a

a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
/ S" Y3 ^/ T7 d8 Beffectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the % y( N0 E7 @% ?6 b0 N. Z
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and ( u) k" f/ k/ s" m
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of . q5 ?( B) X( m; a
the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited " I8 t+ a, d. N8 n; h5 K
to, the following:8 U/ |/ X4 P3 C+ Y" B* l/ D! x
· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
7 b6 s; k1 W5 `3 Pand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, , n. r$ B7 ?2 k! N7 G( p0 y+ T
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.1 B% T% ^5 ~, B' r3 b
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at 4 Q% R% C; O$ ?) J: a- f* E- L$ q* x
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such
1 r% N+ X) p3 `schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and 9 ~8 {' _$ o" a) R
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it 5 u5 b }8 g; V, z6 I
is in operation or needs to be in operation.6 V2 n% I4 Q, Y5 Z( E) y
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure A7 u P% L) [% H J9 c# o9 d. p
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to - }3 `/ x2 i: s- O' d
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all
3 `; S6 w* o& M/ i8 p) urenters needs are met.
7 J8 i1 R" j6 X, X* F; z2 N4 ]· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills $ ]' t8 O- k5 D
and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of
3 w, X9 r ~8 H3 Y0 l! a* v9 uthe roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
/ c! i( P3 g8 X( i: K, d2 H0 feffective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
9 M5 L0 D! j: \6 dappropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing

· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff
" ?' M( ]' ?2 Xscheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance

the staff of the venues.

To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate

Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance &

reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects

· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and

events held in the Horowitz Theatre.

the billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects

needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the

· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as " K+ K4 D, {* P( b% K' _
may be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this

in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation, 5 A" M0 O% ^& _$ W3 v8 @
pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing,

8 ^+ _$ j4 y1 g% o& T3 M1 s/ {2 Oto ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and

as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost- . _6 |0 |* [9 p2 _0 S5 i

· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to 8 b( Z+ J* b/ H! {: [% \
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
2 u& T9 V7 N0 |' ?: H* A f· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and ! H/ a+ d3 N3 N
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.* ?* C& H& Q$ U b2 _1 N
· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their

supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the

· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular
1 D% {* L$ I! Krental with consultation with the Technical Director.- z9 w0 X7 d4 ]
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the ' t( C, Q8 w# ]% `
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately
9 w' h% E% z# r0 Xanswered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in 2 n3 j& u* S* i& G8 p# q5 o& J6 y t
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.& Z3 t6 I6 {" r2 {* N
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately,
$ n! S W6 v4 s! Seffectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
' _) h& R; g; g& N6 _' T4 \the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision 4 A/ m ^7 `, Z) }2 l% q
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of

· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of ! I+ n3 o' u1 C5 D
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of ) O5 J- g1 f) Y, U, l+ n5 z
marketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as 8 K0 e8 c5 S! `; h
may provide such challenges and/or problems.' I2 R {. t- R
· To attend such meetings as may be required to support the smooth
