+ e& G* c |) J) b' SCALGARY — Screams filled the air after a 17-year-old teen was killed after being struck in the head with a pickaxe at a house party. . B, L4 d1 z4 `9 }( O) a' y

Neighbours said about 100 teens were at a house in southeast Calgary when the attack happened in a detached garage about 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

Friends identified the dead teen as Matt McKay, 17. `/ R5 @& i8 G+ P# O

Chris Briggs, who grew up in the same neighbourhood and was friends with McKay, described him as nice guy and avid athlete.

“He was a pretty good guy,” he said. “He played hockey with my friends, he was huge into hockey.”
