: b2 ~. b5 i' ]( N7 B }CALGARY — Screams filled the air after a 17-year-old teen was killed after being struck in the head with a pickaxe at a house party. M, A9 R% Q1 q0 H0 X
& l# h; a4 c nNeighbours said about 100 teens were at a house in southeast Calgary when the attack happened in a detached garage about 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

“I was standing out back having a cigarette then I heard a kid screaming, ‘They killed him,’ then they all scattered,” said Jeff, who didn’t want to give his last name.

Friends identified the dead teen as Matt McKay, 17.

Chris Briggs, who grew up in the same neighbourhood and was friends with McKay, described him as nice guy and avid athlete. 5 m! _/ p6 x/ w6 S
