Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
1 S- E% _6 S D7 ]" p7 z/ L% k6 b- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members1 T3 B9 H- {6 e9 l. S8 J
- submit information for community news

3 O6 z2 Q% }1 r! H; L' x* m& ?- j- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- g# M. m7 X" s% \- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

% q- ]$ A2 I$ e6 d- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
& m0 w9 P# t0 n" k( E* Q5 n- good oral and written Chinese and English skills% M/ y, A: N+ K
- experience in community work and immigrant services
$ n" F$ z+ p% |5 ^7 n- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars3 U- B' I5 |; ?/ k0 o, o' C
- leadership skills/ s( J+ g5 `2 N7 x/ H; _
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
