Position title: Community Development Worker

9 h- d; J: N8 s2 pPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
! d' g/ e4 v- J+ w4 \+ H+ P6 a7 s- R& l- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
' l7 |5 t3 M3 ~- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services0 V' b, v; o n9 z# F& }7 W
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies9 n5 t2 _9 x5 G9 u
- coordinate good will activities) q9 [5 L' s; z
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members- x! u5 w) q! ^. L/ N
- submit information for community news
) `0 T# d* Y/ Q M4 z% n- f6 e- prepare and send AGM information to members
3 v- p5 t* P5 A/ h1 Y9 B4 Y# X- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.% u2 Q$ T |0 i' B9 s" M, o. I
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
u7 Z, r4 W8 g5 G: T9 W- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services$ i: r0 N0 {4 k2 r9 m# M$ o
- assist in writing proposal for ISP) U. l# \7 ?1 O3 P J6 E) F. {
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP: v. D; U# P/ H- J
- explore new ideas for ISP

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

* q% Y" z! a1 Y! e4 C; G- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education ' j! Z- T" ]# D5 q" Y+ D
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
. V( S, I9 A8 L: {- experience in community work and immigrant services& ?/ W$ |) I& K# g p4 I T# w- Q1 j
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
; s! j- }6 L( Y2 F) C/ h- ^/ W- leadership skills
