Does my boy need a passport or visa for him to go to China

9 G1 R" O  t# j- M7 ?- aI am going to go back to China at the end of this year for chinese new year.  My boy, who was born in Edmonton, will be 1.5 years old.  Do I have to get a canadian passport and Chinese Visa for him to travel to China.
