 bring 12 (per intake) at-risk youth together into a unique 20 week group-based! M" P3 l- r; R* T' w
 employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”; 16 weeks of day/ |+ E6 l: }, n- I1 [) W
 program and 4 weeks of employment exposure. YOUCAN is an acronym that
 @' e1 N+ Q) u' f8 y; Cstands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and Advocate Non-Violence.% U3 W9 t( |3 s3 T0 \
 YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for almost six years and our
 $ p9 C+ C) x: H  vmission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to peacefully resolve
 3 F3 K2 H+ r; c6 yconflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities. The goal of the
 * t- @& y3 x) eVERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining the skills
 * ~9 ^* r. a" U9 J0 S% unecessary to bring success into their lives. The program is designed to serve9 d( c" s9 Y7 v& ~- [" Z
 youth who have been involved in the justice system. The program will expose
 0 R, Y' H; O1 m2 nparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment1 x. K7 _9 j, U& c7 e7 d
 development, personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution and' w, E, q# P7 s' _8 K0 `
 exposure courses. Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and
 2 Q4 j( H* x/ T6 S8 z, x& h9 _# \4 Lwellness, volunteerism and leadership courses. The youth will be provided with a
 $ B* T; x/ J  g) u- b1 f! ~) B, s. @6-month employment follow-up once the program is completed.
 , c2 M7 z9 J: e2 j+ O& p0 h2 WThe project will run from 9:30-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Central
 " `+ [6 t1 c' _6 A, ^! E) s9 _YOUCAN office, located at 8718-112 Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta.1 ]9 D# a$ s$ D  ]4 |
 The following position is a one-year contract with the possibility of
 " E2 `3 k( Q4 ?' r  f$ b% gextension dependant of funding and performance. Resumes will be

 Employment Developer: 1 Full-Time Position (40hrs/week)1 O4 S1 K' }! M6 ]6 F% _$ F& B. k
 • Responsible for building relationships with employers within the- i2 ?& S# o2 M  C+ p
 community to partner with YOUCAN to ensure there are employers that are- Y+ g2 _) G/ b
 willing to expose youth to the current employment opportunities
 2 e# U9 u5 W8 F* j5 @. Q• Ensure the youth action plans are reflecting the employment goals as
 6 `7 p$ V% X+ e1 [4 y) qbeing realistic to each youth participant
 F* ~7 s4 i1 I7 m( |• Work with the youth to find the appropriate training needed to equip the
 ( A: ~; m/ l9 I8 X7 Jyouth with the necessary skills needed to find the employment suitable to7 w9 U2 }, L" W
 each participant9 c3 z$ H& }& a& T" F
 • Assist youth with employment development including the development of9 C0 ]1 ], W  r5 x2 S: l  k7 M
 cover letters and resumes etc.0 [6 R# a1 A& Q5 C( K$ t
 • Coordinate the employment exposure component and on site work
 $ ?& a; e3 I7 {& s* g) Z, Dexperience of the project, and monitor the progress of each youth at the
 0 Q- ?! w- E( x1 Nplacements# {1 B% ]( b  N7 r
 • Conduct the 6 month follow up process for each of the youth, evaluating
 3 x' |: e. S* H' \% Lthe process, and supporting the youth where needed
 & O# k5 L8 `; p! k7 t• Work closely with staff of the Verto Project to ensure the holistic approach
 * o" ]( @/ H& t2 B+ \9 Kis being fulfilled for each youth! ~) p( [) i; \1 Y; ?
 • Administrative tasks, such as phone, fax, filing, copying, etc. that are, E8 T! a2 U; W
 related to YOUCAN’s Verto Project

 $ G3 R& g& |& j$ J* j/ s' U Post-secondary education or 3 years related experience accepted
 / L& [' O7 z2 R2 \) a A minimum of three years relevant experience is required.5 F; A( z& S( i& e3 w9 n
