Duties
* F2 D/ l6 S2 ]3 _) V r5 Q9 J! ?/ s! ]6 l2 N: y
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
) u s# M- @. W5 D" ?+ c * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography" o8 t- R) p; S& B/ v0 y1 X
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
* n% ^9 @. p, x9 {- g, t3 l * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client8 D9 ^$ [2 ?( W+ _9 y% x
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry6 |$ B; x9 H" u; u/ P9 b
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals

* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications1 x- h% G- ?1 Z# y7 |6 W' s9 H# u
2 _- R! q8 g- j. n: Q * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
5 w( K0 Y2 A6 ^, g0 E3 a5 C * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
& \9 ?2 N6 @6 ^# ?; I * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel6 e# t+ \$ m% {1 e! I
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures' d0 c: }: s, \
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment! m3 H. d% W' U
