" ^% |7 E" C& W, g+ S! G * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis* x, Y% ?' e% ^( d8 p5 R
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
; Y, `: G- [- j3 p2 m8 P * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
7 o: v; B+ Q3 r# p. D9 f) E7 P * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
; J1 r/ d# B4 Y# E * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
; _$ d: L! p" ~; T% g0 P' C * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
/ v7 B- ~$ D- d0 Z1 y * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab' P& q: X$ d& [2 m
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices8 ^2 X6 R8 B+ |+ F5 q7 V& D/ z
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
t% @+ i3 G& U' } w, U- `+ S; b/ |' f! Q
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred* X; p l/ r& y' y
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
1 ~9 S* f/ j; |9 H9 j. S2 L * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel- `- u" z% B$ ~' X$ _. Y: [0 B
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures7 L, O8 W: M0 \3 S+ a/ k
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
