Duties

! N$ e+ {: }3 S * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis2 N# a7 |: {. G* U) f
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography1 c9 G# z. c: V( ~; o! i6 i
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques. X6 Y' S! t" E% V3 t( Z# p
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client ?9 X! f' R* ~- g, c5 I+ Q4 r* H! E
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry6 ~9 `2 u! K$ Z' M2 [
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals

1 P! D5 s$ A5 K& r) m, J* L& i * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices

Qualifications
# W& O3 I& p& ]! K7 G
8 \7 f4 k4 p8 t * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
, r" K( x- s) u. i( B( I+ U * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)0 K' d% x" K8 |' W# m) o. \3 H' L
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel# Z% T/ f' R- L
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures! u' k2 h4 l8 W8 z# c8 |1 R
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment& x- M" S5 w- ]- P
