Duties' U3 b6 c' L+ D s0 z- R6 o

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
' o- k6 l* O* Q/ `) M z * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography7 a% A" V# o* q6 z. V- i% t, S
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques# b; w! z6 ]1 W" d5 h2 f
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client* h! x& I3 c# N9 W. V
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry% Z S, [6 y" \" J
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
* z6 {6 ^9 [+ S! N% ?1 K1 b * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
, a& ?8 o' \; V) {6 o- [ * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
. S; d! {# p2 x: p3 n. n( _ * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications; \1 w) T% ~. a4 t5 y% n
1 }% D" N& ~7 e2 F' S8 o* |& y* m * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred. W" H) T" q, O5 w4 j& N* Y( }( ^
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)* s/ G- Y [9 G6 i
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel- ?$ v" R% g. V' O
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
! O/ U" K9 d! b% M * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment: e9 P v1 G8 \7 j4 a
