9 n% m, b* u- g( Y' R * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
7 V" k- Z* i; x! b' ]8 d * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
, m$ y& v: J# W4 V5 d6 X4 X * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
0 T0 o( H4 K& ~ * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client; g6 K* \$ ]3 p% m% g
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry% }; q+ D5 x: m% G2 x
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
8 P9 E% @' C7 c+ } * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab) Z: F' u( ^. M0 l6 k
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
& O3 a" g# m1 z) [- W+ \ \1 F * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

/ k; b" Z; k r' Z6 a' f! {$ K2 YQualifications$ v& P) Z: k. M8 ~! W# U/ \* H+ S
$ s5 }5 L7 @: a2 H * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred/ q( n! z f: s7 T+ y0 K" F! S
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
3 e2 \+ A6 G9 l8 S * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
! p- |4 D% l( M8 t4 g * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
