1 b! D0 A V( H* K- ^$ @$ jThe project will focus on the following aspects of newcomers settlement services:

6 W8 e; q: z- ~• Outreach delivery of “orientation, information and referral services”
4 s8 {! G1 R7 z4 z) t• Centre-based delivery of “orientation, information and referral services”

The Settlement Practitioner will be a front line practitioner, providing settlement
) r4 P1 Q5 g5 Z) B3 Dguidance, information, orientation and referral services for Temporary Foreign
+ s3 j2 L4 V6 R& \3 N3 _Workers, including matters of employment, housing, language, immigration and) O s! |7 L9 G- d; @0 y- l
supportive counselling by telephone, emails and in-person.

The Settlement Practitioner will also be required to deliver information and. k: ^% A6 D5 e2 R! B, D
orientation workshops related to settlement needs of Temporary Foreign workers.0 a& _# C$ r$ i7 {4 e: e- M# i1 _' z
Workshops and group sessions will be centre-based, employer/industry based and
' }" c( k* `6 x* w4 Tcommunity based. Some internal and outreach weekend workshop facilitation is* b% J o4 I$ j) J, {
required. The ability to work flexible hours is essential.

understanding of temporary foreign worker settlement issues, being innovative and

Responsibilities
2 n( Y3 n, F0 n6 x. J; Y• Provide a detailed needs assessment of TFW’s referred from EMCN staff,other service providers, industry employers, as well as self-referrals
& {' m3 q& s, D# ^$ |• Establish and maintain relationships between EMCN, other service providers and industries employing temporary foreign workers and promote settlement services at EMCN- M6 d) |9 O' A* E) n" F
• Maintain close relationships with the Temporary Foreign Worker Advisory Office0 K/ Y6 w) V% p. ^
• Provide counselling to help temporary foreign workers adjust to Canadian life,make referrals when appropriate, develop needs assessment and action plans if required
5 t S: P- u8 n• Assist people to fill in application forms, prepare for meetings or appointments relating to settlement or employment" \; n2 C7 S4 u* E9 G7 g6 M
• Take clients to view apartments, open bank accounts, register for healthcare and become familiar with community services
% Y/ u0 X3 P& @6 ` e' e• Assess and refer individuals experiencing critical or complex immigration and employment difficulties to appropriate service provider or government agency' L3 j U6 {% C8 E$ ^
• Facilitate and coordinate delivery of workshops related to settlement of TFW $ \( y3 b. T G1 c9 B/ o
• Promote English language services for TFW and employers' C8 S' x' A3 j" f# v
• Arrange interpretation and translation services as required
5 I( L! z, w% A; A• Strengthen and build supports with community groups and volunteers
! S8 o- |% h E# u, B; c% K7 D• Provide service delivery duties as required Desired skills, education and experience:
1 ?' k; V! k0 J. I" R5 ^! g. g• Minimum of 2 years of previous experience as a Settlement Practitioner in an intercultural/multicultural/cross-cultural context" Q( D* Y: d2 E
• Relevant post-secondary education in social science or human service area
7 E: B2 P( c$ U$ V( H0 |' |• Excellent written and oral communication skills9 H, K7 D) f% w' \0 s+ b. G
• Strong commitment to providing quality services to newcomers and to working in an intercultural environment with cultural competence
0 {0 x+ H: B5 l• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-based workplace, demonstrating flexibility in organizing work, showing initiative,judgment, resourcefulness, good decision-making6 K; Q, d: g$ i
• Proficiency in English is essential, as is fluency in other languages- S; v$ H8 T- x
• Spanish language proficiency is an asset, q) E9 s1 W% r' B3 Q! G- i
