Duties; o0 d1 T- w( n

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
% e3 l7 I# h: E0 Q" g8 L    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
. B* T) f( A8 P4 u3 G    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators1 p( n% ^5 U! Q" ?7 N7 b7 J
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
, z3 K, Q5 k: C. K, S    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director; C$ V) Q# i! x* E* Z& |7 K
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses0 ?7 @4 |5 H8 a6 }- @# L0 d) N
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth* {& G; o: o# q4 S
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program! t! D1 E5 r0 L8 p7 Y, Y) }+ }
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
( Z9 Q' P, U2 {1 ~, S4 |1 e    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
* z5 P3 w4 a; C. e2 G' |    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities* `8 z/ M0 z& v" M
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools$ G1 \7 E/ F& o9 f( X: j. E

; n/ p1 ^' L; y' `( w/ M
3 `+ h$ Y# e) ^1 g1 b    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline+ p: w7 P( v) y9 Q
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
5 ?4 V( v: [$ o4 V# t4 t    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
- L! ]* ?' c9 Q7 y5 W! A1 S    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
9 M0 i' S2 v: }" L+ l' E, b! q    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

( P: P& u8 r" Q# b5 {  D    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills2 l( T) ]2 H! `9 b7 H
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
$ L' ]) p  `* f; a( @, D    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
+ X4 [3 j  \' d, L, x( X    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills) {5 f6 b- b7 i+ N) A7 [
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
