Duties

* Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program2 x0 K% a3 \ g2 E/ @4 x1 P$ j
* Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities9 S8 F6 b# b! D5 _. |9 ?8 R# f% J7 b* N
* Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes# k7 i1 d- }. m" l2 o7 W% D
* Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat( B) K. S) ^# q! G# u5 q) o1 e" R+ G
* Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders
B$ |) R- C, r5 J* x * Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements

* Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director( }% ` u0 N+ c; g, U! p
* Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning5 `; k6 }+ |* p) q% L
* Develops high quality promotional and educational materials/ ?+ _$ R1 q; r
* Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media, U, c! }9 I" E1 H1 W
* Creates and delivers community-based presentations on camp-related research and evaluation results) t* h- }- L% K) ^0 \/ V0 L$ ]9 i; B
* Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies

Qualifications% x( c. R. Y' W: f

* Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred
) M" x6 }8 q( M7 d- Y * Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth1 E, E ]$ c/ v$ J* _" ~: [9 y
* Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
; C6 @: z- Z8 r8 r * Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies
: a& a4 h' f4 T * Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills2 @" G. ?% Z/ a) G0 l- n
* Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning
- [: J, q5 i5 J2 D * Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)
