The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation, but police believe the incident is not random and is likely gang-related.

1 man dead in stabbing
* U$ G# S; V( F) [! N& M7 V/ yMeanwhile, one male is dead and another is in police custody after an altercation between two groups in an alley early Sunday morning, according to an EPS press release.

6 Z7 O6 H) b6 h& |: R% {At approximately 2:45 a.m. MT, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Gateway Boulevard near Whyte Avenue.

' X8 u' c1 B t4 S K# \% ~Upon stopping the car, the officers learned that one of the passengers, a 24-year-old male, was seriously injured.

) ~, b4 q# D# N" [He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

% c6 r2 N H" m4 r0 C9 _5 }A police investigation revealed that the three male occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with two other males and a female near an alley south of Whyte Avenue, between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail, which resulted in one male being stabbed.
