A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.! k9 D/ {# J7 ~+ M
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
) @& ]- S9 O3 H- j, A7 mknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.5 ?6 ?8 q7 Z0 n& t. |# m A% @& h
The program includes the following elements:
0 m9 F" Q* m! o6 U• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)( k, {( c+ p# v) I4 N7 D: F8 I- `7 e
• Standard Child Care First Aid
1 C1 B3 J' k3 \• WHMIS
4 L6 w! L7 `3 G# @; d* V0 b' x• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
: ^+ v/ ]3 ]8 a; J0 t• Components to improve communication skills0 m8 l3 b6 Y5 v% v
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
9 T' b3 _/ R6 {' p& B* u, [/ r' B• Practicum Placements
* f1 N" X8 F1 [, T3 c* |! |% DEligibility Criteria4 i1 h# U+ y* u8 B5 T: I, G
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
$ [5 W( N, d" h7 O" m' Zof Canada. r. k& A. A5 P* B t' \
• have a Social Insurance Number, E; f# M1 @/ Q, N! ~; N8 K# z& F
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check+ u' W1 j5 y+ w# B/ z1 _6 X' T& y
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
2 {$ m1 p/ H, H• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time f5 s3 ?' t' w k3 S

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
$ n: D& G2 X3 S) }* _ Wthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
$ }: a' t0 l* u Y• be unemployed or underemployed.7 p" ]. M8 K$ x6 ]6 H5 R
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course) F" E; x0 t9 [2 E: K
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
