A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.. P$ E1 o( Y' b( e
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and$ C$ m _. T8 f0 i4 r
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.0 n: @) j& ]0 p( Y
The program includes the following elements:
- `! z l& w# c& ]2 ~• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
% S1 j" E W4 j8 P" F• Standard Child Care First Aid! n1 ^# Y- V& E: k. ~
• WHMIS
$ k- d* V1 K7 |# e1 n! y; N• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
3 [ Q- }, c; j8 o0 T- G• Components to improve communication skills
. c$ y- X9 u5 Q* ~• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search0 k+ e! F5 U4 l
• Practicum Placements' q- N- z* f9 s+ Q1 \& i, M1 ]
Eligibility Criteria
( v; J1 O9 V \# q* Q t q9 R) ]• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
/ C) s2 L0 q G# [" f: _of Canada4 Q% N- S* V* }
• have a Social Insurance Number2 N! S: _, D+ m2 E/ ]3 n+ \9 q
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
* [4 }+ v1 a- ]" O4 G• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
! ^% }$ G0 c6 X# Y0 c( v+ }• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet) a/ U0 J& L2 V: z( h5 U
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:$ u; U+ S @/ K/ U5 `
• be unemployed or underemployed.$ N) C+ n. o2 p" Y. {/ ^
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course3 l3 U8 g$ P" r( Z9 v- k! I% H
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
