Duties: J' H2 L3 Q2 P6 C4 u
" _- O& K' h. `. ^( y( I * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications! N& d7 X( D( N8 F9 O
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis; E% Q( o. e" x! G3 z
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance0 _8 K7 }) F8 M& |
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students & H- H% P/ d* l: L3 o9 ?9 U
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies6 \- g4 i/ h7 S& k
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs1 r6 {* g, D9 Y: E1 H
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment6 M7 Q* A: f. O; ~* E6 L9 p6 B

Qualifications

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
