Duties

* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
/ R" l' |- H8 s3 T * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis& o1 L$ V- l }; ?! j9 l; ~3 r6 M
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
; t3 ^: B& s7 Q( ]8 i * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
4 s8 I% b& V3 o& I" I * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies) W2 s3 j0 r; [: E2 j: j
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs1 k& C3 [0 o7 l# D
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment5 w9 @% w& O0 o& [! i* ?( l
