Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Key Responsibilities Include
. a+ h& B7 _" J% p4 D" c. }% x0 MActivity Planning and Daily Activity
- R2 \- l( h6 E6 ?' r/ N• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.$ K8 G% r* i3 D) h4 x
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
7 _+ o, _7 P3 q1 _; j. j• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
/ U( o- v8 h- i; ^; i6 k' e• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.5 s0 P+ V1 Q# |/ s% K6 x
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.) `' s0 t+ z4 G- H1 S
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.7 X* O) B; v$ P1 l# j G, ^

The successful candidate will have:9 ~3 m: \* a0 L+ ` c1 k0 e) X4 b$ ]
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting) Y& c7 g, [8 G$ U3 Y
• Experience with children8 v8 c" y9 ^ f
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
, F0 A& h0 \ M% N. N& {; e• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.0 P7 G. m8 m! o) `+ v) q
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.! k2 ^9 K }3 g- H
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources0 O) H9 L8 O6 k! w
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check $ Q5 x d; k( O# f, X `# I
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check 1 c/ N; e2 V* S
