Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students + M+ f# }: }4 I& k4 U
(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school): G# p2 ^7 u5 L& }/ n1 Y3 I6 \6 o# m
/ o4 x, k0 r" J6 I# o7 @Key Responsibilities Include
, X* e" O' }0 C t' `Activity Planning and Daily Activity
* u, H1 Y4 G" {( K5 k1 h& j X• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership./ g8 R8 S# v5 [5 E. K5 H% R, P
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 5 x( q6 f( c! g
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
, h- v+ M) q6 P3 y! L1 x• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants. ]. o) w! l. a4 E
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.* p" @( r3 o0 C8 Z( m; [. P |
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.: [7 d" s# F5 w* d1 E. S/ N

The successful candidate will have:
) z; s( d |+ ?9 T( |: S3 d• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
/ L ]6 ~: Q' y: S _( b/ }! {0 y• Experience with children
* ?7 C2 I6 q5 E8 u* U7 U# O( \• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
- t {% ]7 {) L' h$ C1 D• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
( Z8 f9 B: m9 K- w/ h• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.% f5 ~( x& i7 U( B4 c$ x
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources6 r7 \: d+ E! O3 S ]
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
! m r& N8 E9 T) h; F7 D" M• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check , W) _1 S b+ B. X4 x5 c
