A cover letter works as a very brief introduction of yourself to the potential emplyer, it does show your attitude towards the job and potential emplyer. Keep it short, attractive and interesting reading in a polite manner. ; I0 U' B$ Z" g P$ W9 G C 9 K+ U8 h8 k e0 F& I" bGenerally, the potential emplyer (or the human resources manager) has only 15-30 seconds to read it.
